4210 John Deere
Best Thing I Ever Bought
Model Year: 0

This tractor is awesome. It has a loader, backhoe, forklift attachment, log splitter and front mount snow blower. I use this machine year round. This thing eats through snow and the neighbors love me when the plows pile up the white stuff in huge piles and their driveways shrink. I come in and throw it 20 feet out. Plenty of bottles have appeared at my door. I thought I over bought but it has paid for itself by trenching, carrying wood on skids, digging in rocky soil, and not making a huge mess like a large machine. My wood is split for the year. I move the wood into position after Halloween and put the snow blower on and it is ready for snow. Do not buy a trailer. People borrow this machine by calling a car carrier and it's hard to say no.

Pros: Does it all
Cons: Not one

John Deere 4210 with FEL
Model Year: 2002

The 4210 ehydro has done it all and more. I use a 60" tiller, 60" brush hog, 60" box scraper, single bottom 12" plow, 60" rake, 72" disk, bucket teeth, front forks, 72" rear blade. Use all year round and put about 100 hours per year. Has been a great tractor. Always starts easily. Runs great.

Pros: Size and capability.
Cons: Loader could be better.

Tractor initially stopped constantly the first week all due to a loose computer module but the dealer I bought it from sent a tech from Maryland I live in pa.until the simple cause was found. Great support. Would definitely buy again. I recently replaced a wheel seal to the tune of $1,000.00 but that's all I had done in 12 years.

Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: Wish the seal wouldn't have gone.

4210 E Hydro Drive 4x4
Model Year: 2005

Great tractor, love the hydro drive, and 4x4 gives it much more pull. I've had a few problems with cruise switches, and wire connectors getting dirty under the frame.. but I got some good help from the dealer, and tractor is 100%.

Pros: Tough, easy to drive, gets in tight places.
Cons: No 12v outlet from factory, steering wheel doesn't return to same spot.

mainefarme47 John Deere 4210 Review
Model Year: 2003

This John deere 4210 has been the best tractor a small farmer cold ask for. It has never failed except for a left front wheel seal. When I'm ready to go to work it is ready to go. I make sure it is serviced when it is recommended and that I use it for what it was designed to do. There is a bucket on it and I have a few attachments to make and maintain wildlife food plots. Just a great tractor.

Pros: Ready to go to work all the time.
Cons: None.

I am a general contractor and homeowner on 3 acres. i definitely use the tractor beyond what it should be expected to perform. I have a FEL, BH, and 6' county line box blade. So far I'm impressed. I have torn apart a 18" backhoe bucket beyond repair removing the stump of a 100' oak tree from my future driveway. The FEL seems a little undersized or underpowered from what I'd like. I had 20 tons of 2" stone delivered the other day and the tractor had trouble scooping up and lifting a 3/4 full bucket. Maybe it's also age catching up. I'm not complaining, I'd buy this tractor again in a heartbeat. It's my first. Small enough to be transported in a 14' dump trailer with plenty of other supplies for hardscaping projects. Light enough to not tear up yards. This tractor is not a toy, but it's also not a mini excavator or skid steer. It's a great all around machine.

Pros: Size and weight, available attachments, ease of use.
Cons: None.

John Deere 4210
Model Year: 2004

I'm fairly pleased with this tractor. I bought this one with just under 1200 hours on it and I use it for mainly cutting grass and brush hogging the woods. My only complaint about the tractor itself is the transmission. It's equipped with the sync shift standard transmission and at times it's a pain to get the right gear. I'm assuming due to wear in the shift linkage but I'm not sure. As well as after running at PTO speed for an hour or so, the clutch becomes sticky and grabby. As for attachments, the loader is great. It's equipped with the 420 loader and I have no complaints about it. The 7-iron 60" mower deck cuts great, but it doesn't provide much suction for using a lawn vacuum. Another downfall is how low the deck hangs. Its very easy to get things caught in the deck or destroy one of the lift bushings when your using the tractor for dirt activities. If your buying a deck. Buy a drive over one. The regular decks are a royal pain to take on and off. And most of the time I need to use the loader to lift the tractor up to get the deck out. Another thing is, the turf tires are terrible. Even in grass I find them ripping up more than the R4 tires that are on a friends 2320 that I've used many times. So other than the little things, it's a great tractor and has enough power to do all the things I need to do. Just wish it was outfitted a little differently from the factory.

Pros: Reliable, easy to use, not very loud.
Cons: Turf Tires, non drive over deck.

JD 4210 - Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 2003

I have 8 acres and purchased this to take care of my land. Equipped with FEL, 60" brush hog, 60" box blade, and log splitter. This is a perfect size for me and my little farm. I use the tractor for the usual mowing, dirt work, pulling/hauling everything from manure to grand kids to rocks, to hay. I've found the bucket is perfect for mixing cement for planting fence posts! I also use it to pull grapevine out of the trees. Perhaps the best of all though is that if my tractor is running my 5 year old grandson thinks he is supposed to be on it with me. He can now drive it on his own with me working the pedals.

Pros: Durable, powerful for the size, comfortable.
Cons: I developed an oil leak near the rear axle after 400 hours.

This JD does it all
Model Year: 2002

I purchased my E-hydro 4210 with FWD, 420 FEL, 60 Inch 7 Iron deck, and Frontier 72 inch RB as a package. It gets used about 110 hours per year, used for mowing, rock and dirt moving, snow removal, and everything else in between. Anybody who buys a CUT without FWD will never get the full benefit of their tractor. The two additional driving wheels have paid for themselves time and again. The sole problems I have had are a failed OEM battery, a fogging dash, and one burnt out light bulb. That is all! It has been maintained far in excess of what the manual calls for, which I credit for the excellent reliability it has demonstrated. My only gripes are that the OEM front tires are too small, and the 7-Iron mmm is a huge PIB to remove and reinstall. Oh yes, I wish the FEL had another foot of lift height. My only regret about my JD is that I didn't buy it sooner.

Pros: Compact size, ample power, uses little fuel, dead reliable, & it's easy to get parts for when I need them.
Cons: Smallish front tires, mmm is a huge PIB to remove and install, no real toolbox, no lighter sockets for accessories.

4210 John Deere
Overall Customer Satisfaction
Model Year: 2002

My tractor performed well with only a couple of problems in the five years in which I owned it. First was an electrical problem in which the unit refused to start when warm. Traced this to a relay that was defective and hence replaced the relay. Next was a hydraulic problem which was traced to a clogged transmission filter (screen). I replace all filters, cleaned the screen, and put in new fluid. The screen was completely clogged with varnish and could be caused by frequent start ups and shutdowns with not but a few hours of use in between. The most irritating problem was the like new seat cushion "popping" loose from the seat frame. The factory glue did not hold and practically caused a perfectly good cushion to go to the trash. I blame the seat manufacture for this defect.

Pros: Good performance and power with extremely good ease of operator use. Power steering, brakes, and e-hydro tranny worked fantastic. I would definitely buy another of this model or a similar John Deere.
Cons: See comments.

John Deere 4210 tractor
Model Year: 2004

Little tractor does everything a big one will do just a little slower. Has done everything I asked of it from tilling with a 62 in. Howse tiller, to boxblading, and loader work. Only drawback is now and then the ehydro just stops and I get flashes on the error panel. I notice it more on very bumpy ground. Other than that the tractor is very solid and I really like the loadmatch, that really prevents the tractor from stalling. The 420 loader really is easy to disconnect from the tractor, only takes about 2 minutes or less. One more drawback is the smaller R4 tires that come with the 4210 vs the 4310. Really has been a good tractor though.

Pros: Loadmatch, solid frame, easy starting and tough motor.
Cons: Smaller tires, low ground clearance for row crops.

4210 John Deere
Great Tractor
Model Year: 2000

Other than my goofs causing trauma to the hood and three point hitch and the usual sheer pin breaks this has been a great tractor. The backhoe lines werent protected well from the factory and I pinched a line shortly after I got it and what a job to get it removed as it was up inside the arm and the articulating pins wouldnt come out easily. The backhoe is also difficult to get on and off even though I opted for the easier mount ... not so easy. Other than that love my tractor and it ghas saved my back on many an occasion. Oh the extra money for hydrostatic is well worth it.

Pros: durabilty, fun factor, color
Cons: backhoe tough to get on
