1620 4wd

I have 4wd trouble w the 1620-1800 hrs,hydro,no other issues but lately the 4wd wont engage,looked at coupler and splines, all appear good,loooks to me that the problem is front end related, anybody have any experience with the 20 series, this has been bullet proof til now

Hey Graniger...I saw that you were on line so I thought I would ask you a question. Does your 1620 have separate forward/reverse pedals? Thanks. I meant Grainger-sorry.

if you mean me, mine has a single pedal,rocker style

4wd is difficult to diagnose on the ground. But if you disconnect the front drive shaft, carefully jack the front end up and spin the input to the front end and watch the wheels. Or spin the wheels and see if the input shaft turns.

Use something sturdy to block it up (ie: no car jack stands, use 6x6 or 8x8 timber)

Alternately you can block it up so that all 4 wheels are off the ground. Put it in 4wd, start it up and give it some very slight forward pedal. (be extra careful)

See if the front wheels turn with the front drive shaft. If they do turn, it's a trans problem. If they don't, it a front diff issue.
