I love my L3130, but man $385.00 for SUDT, engine oil, and filters!

200 hours is only the engine oil and filter not the SUDT. I think that gets changed again at 600 hrs...

Yeah - Kubota's SUDT isn't cheap stuff.

Is it the same kind of deal with John Deere and the other major brands (MF, NH) - do they have their own hydraulic fluid and do most people use it? Seems like the vast majority of Kubota folks (including me) use UDT/SUDT.

I wonder if an auto supply or an oil distributor could cross reference SUDT to another available lube and what the cost difference might be.

Bill,

If you have an HST, I highly recommend you look at Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF.

It is significantly better than UDT/SUDT for temperature extremes and hard use.

Hi RFB:
Where would I expect to buy the Chevron synthetic oil? It looks like good stuff.

I have a Kubota, and am thinking of going with Amsoil synthetic tractor hydraulic /transmission oil 100 bucks for a five gallon pail. Super udt doesn't work well in cold. I don't think it can out perform Amsoil. My tractor has a low pitch squeel sometimes when it's cold. I think Amsoil would settle the problem cause it's synthetic.

You might also want to look into this...

I first learned about Shaeffer a few years ago when I had my transmission rebuilt by a guy that is very well known in the world of Ford Superduty performance automatic transmissions. I run Shaeffer's in my transmission, transfer case, differentials, along with their synthetic motor oil, after running other high quality synthetic motor oils for years. I have an oil analysis done on the engine oil at every change, at 10k miles. I also run their diesel fuel additive.

Their products are very high quality and are very, very reasonably priced. You can find local distributors on their website, and they will drop ship all your fluids to your door.

simonmeridew,

I use the Chevron AW Syn THF , and find marked performance enhancements. I especially saw an easier start and markedly faster "ramp-up" in colder (single digit and sub-zero) temps.

Another option: "TEXACO TDH OIL SS"

I examined the msds and product sheets from this and Chevron AW Syn THF (I saved them as pdfs last year) and the product is identical.

Your local Chevron or Texaco distributor can get it. Take the print out with you because in my experience, they are often unfamiliar with it and therefore doubt its existence.

One warning; you get what you pay for. It runs around $85 for a 5 gallon pail.

If you are under warranty make sure you use oil with Kubota specs. I don't know much about the above oils but am sure they are all great oils. Amsoil tractor hydraulic has specs that meet Kubota UDT. Just a thought. It will be the most expensive at just over $100 for 5 gal. It is a true PAO oil and not hydroprocessed so it should last many years. I have 3 buckets here awaiting the change out on my new 3940 :)
