Tractor
Yuchai Dozer, Ford 1700
My brother and I just picked up a 79' Ford 1700 2wd to mow our clover food plots and do a little brush hogging. I have been running a Chinese Yuchai bulldozer for over a year now.

Was wondering what everyone was using for fluids in this size tractor as it needs an oil change. I was thinking of using Chevron Delo 400 15W-40 in the motor as that is what I have been using in the bulldozer. What about the fuel injector pump? I was thinking of using the universal trans/hydraulic for TSC. Let me know. Thanks, Adirondack

Trapper,
welcome to TBN Blue, you got great little tractor that is more capable that your intended tasks. I have several posts about this tractor that should give you plenty of info. Use the forum's search engine for "Ford 1700" or "Jc-jetro" and you'll have many hours of gooood reading ahead of you. let us know if you have questions about how to search. Glad you got ROPS.

JC,

ps. By the way I use Rotella from TSC same weight that you mentioned and used Mystick (tsc) brand and thats just fine. There are several grade Mystick , make sure it is Ford-134 compatible.

JC will be able to help you out with your 1700.

Any good 'C' rated 15w40 oil should be good for the crankcase of that machine.. and any UTF fluid that is M2c134D compatible should work fine for the hyds, trans, power steering, and diffy.. etc.

Thanks for the info guys.

Do you both use the same oil for the fuel injector pump as the motor?

I was looking for a hydraulic filter but I see there only is a straining filter under the the suction line by the parts diagram. I noticed a drain screw under the transmission but isn't there another drain to fully empty the hydraulic sump?

Does anyone have a cross refrence for an oil filter?

Thanks, Adirondack

Adirondack,

Oil for the fuel injector should be the same as engine oil and not Hydraulic fluid. There is no cartridge type fuel filter but you do have a pleated mesh stainless steel suction strainer (very fine mesh) in the rear differential. do not need to replace it, take it out , an old toothbrush and some diesel will make the cleaning a simple task. There is a drain under the differential for the sump drainage, look closely and you'll find it. I have a few post exactly about the questions you asked with many pics. I'll put the link below for your reading pleasure. Take your time and do them as they are easy and safeguard good operation for a long time. Fram does have a reference for oil filter, don't have that info at work, will post it tonight.

Just got same type of tractor with loader and rear scraper blade, brought it home today, broker said I would have to change all the fluids.
I have read all your posts and wonder does TDH cover the fluids as early post stated needed to be M2C134D compatable, cannot see that on container, any other suggestions for a universal lubercation

Can you elaborate on make and model. I think the hyd oil and engine oil are the same for 1000 series Japaneses shibaura badged Ford.

If it is ford.. it probably -can- take utf in any sump except liquid powered brakes, and engine ).. there are exceptions.. but in leiu of your manual.. UTF is a safe bet for must tractor lube sumps outside of the crankcase.
