If you look at the torque chart the tundra has 80%(320lb-ft) of total torque(401lb-ft)available at 1200rpm, 90%(360lb-ft) of total torque(401lb-ft) available at 2000rpm; 95%(380lb-ft) of total at 2800. Horse power is a horse of a different color, rated much higher in the rpm range(3500rpm and up)

wkpoor; your van is a rated 1 ton; we're talking a rated 1/2 ton pick-up. Not exactly apples to apples but yet I'll wager with your trailer(balanced)load, the tundra would have no trouble pulling it;not saying I want to be driving

I also have the under seat storage;simply bolts(thumb screws, actually) in place/easily removable although I can't see why anyone would want to, not in the way of anything

It is if I want to put the seat up and put the dog in there. She needs a good deal of room and I would rather have her on the floor than on the seats, especially in an emergency situation.

We use a travel harness, that hooks to the seatbelt. It allows freedom of movement, yet protects the dog in a collision, much safer than no harness or having them on the floor.

backing up escavader, highway I get 18-19 summer, 15 winter, at 73 mph (my standard highway cruise control setting).

Not saying you should do this, but I've hauled pretty close to one ton in the bed a couple of times with no handling or speed issues whatsoever. I'd want timbrens if I did it regularly though

She has not been happy in any harness we have used so far... do you have a recommendation? She is just like SWMBO, if she is not happy.. nobody is happy.

I have used 3 on my current boy as he got larger. I am not sure of the brand, but it has a sheepskin chest piece, and he doesn't mind it at all. Pretty sure we got it at petsmart. I will check the label when I get home today.

She might be better off with the storage compartment's benign plastic rather than face the metal seating brackets, which may or may not have sharp edges

The seating brackets are a concern... which is why I am also looking at a Silverado... it doesn't have the brackets out in the open like the Tundra does.
