HI ALL MY NEIGHBOR WANTS ME TO CUT HIS FIELDS ABOUT 11 ACRES ITS ALL WEEDS NO TREES,RUTS ROCKS,STUMPS ETC.I HAVE A JD 2520 WITH A FRONTIER 1060 BRUSH HOG.WOULD THIS MODEL BE ABLE TO DO THE JOB WITH NO PROBLEM? OR WOULD A LARGER TRACTOR BE NEEDED?THANKS.

I dont think you would have any problem at all. Depending on how tall the weeds are will be how long it will take to get it done. I would estimate one long day or a weekend to get it done.
Just remember if anything brakes on your machine that your insurance most likely will not cover it because it is off your property.
Have fun getting seat time.

That usually works out to be "none that he knew of at the time." Dont be surprised what you find if the grass is tall.

My advice is to walk the field before cutting. I mowed my neighbor's 8 acres earlier this year with my Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine, 45 hp pto) and 6ft Hawklike brush hog. Only took about 3.5 hours. But I hit a stump, an weed-covered irrigation ditch, some old 2x lumber and a half-buried cinderblock. I thought I had found all the obstacles in my (cursory) walk-around, but I was wrong.

No damage done. But that brings up the always touchy subject: who pays for damage to your tractor and/or mower while doing this job for your neighbor?

500$ for 11ac? I'd be on that like white on rice... walk the field first.. then mow it.. for 500$.. you can affort to go slow and burn an entire sunday,.. that way you don't hit any ruts or stumps!

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I have a customer that has 15-16 acres on 2 different lots that I cut every couple of months. There are several trees, stumps, hills, electrical boxes, ruts, etc... I charge $800 per cut and can do it in about 8-9 hours.

I'd do it for $500 for sure. Just be sure to cover yourself up with bug spray and keep a fresh can of wasp spray real close. A wasp or bee hive under the ground could ruin your week real easy if you run over it and don't see it on your second pass with they are angry and looking for a victem.
