I have 5 acres with 600+ ft of stream frontage. I plan to do loader work, grading, mowing, bush-hogging, and move a few logs around that get piled up after a flood. We are looking to buy another 10 to 20 acres and I would like to cut some hay. Both to sell and for the animals we will be feeding. I am currently leaning toward the 2330 but wanted your feedback on the two models. And if you think the 2330 will get the job done.

Aside from the obvious gain of 5 hp for the 2410, what do you all see as the advantages for the 2410 (class 4) over the 2330 (class 3), or, vice-versa. You gain 5 hp with the 2410 but you also gain weight. Weight can be good but in this case does the extra 5hp get "nullified" because of the added weight of the 2410? The 2410 is turbocharged, what are the advantages / disadvantages over the normally aspirated, and vice-versa? You get approximately an extra 1000 lbs of 3pt lft with the 2410. Do you see this as a big deal in my case?

Anything you can think of to throw in here to compare the two tractors I would be interested in hearing. I would be especially interested in people who have ridden on both of these machines.

TIA,

Haying takes weight.

The 2410 weighs 4260 lbs, the 2330 3500 lbs giving a difference of 760 lbs. How much of a difference will that make; A little? Night and day? I might add that some of the terrain consist of rolling hills.

The difference will be substantial and critical for haymaking on rolling terrain; both weight and horsepower. Check out the power requirements for the haying equipment you may want. Then talk to folks who are haying on that scale on land similar to yours. Choosing a Class III tractor knowing full well it will be used as the primary tractor in a haying operation is a poor choice IMHO. Your equipment choices are limited, and your personal safety may be compromised. You should STRONGLY consider ag tires (R-1's) and maximum ballast on whatever you buy. R-4's are a compromise tire when used on compacts; pretty good for most conditions, optimal for very few. For traction and holding back heavy loads on hills, they suck.

RickB sums it up well. I have a CaseIH version of the 2410, and there's no way I would want to use anything smaller for haying. I would say the 2410 or 2420 if you want to use it all around, including haying.
You might also consider the smaller 2330 for most chores and then an older used utility tractor for haying. In that scenario the 2330 could help with the lighter duties of haying.

Weight means a lot!!!!!

I do not hay, but I have been told that haying equipment can "throw" your tractor around if it is tooo light.

My TN70A FWA is around 5600 pounds with 70HP gross. Wish I had more. :)
