Just wondering what the difference is between a dresser dozer and a regular dozer....

I thought that Dresser was a brand name, or at least a sub-brand name, not a type. I think that the Dresser name may have been associated with International, but I'm not sure.

You are correct. Dresser was a brand of bulldozer...

I think Dresser was bought out by Dressta, who still makes dozers and other heavy equipment worldwide. When I was looking for a dozer, I read someplace that you can still get parts for Dresser equipment from Dressta.

Dresser was Dresser/Clark. They sold the equipment business many years ago. They still make turbines and large compressors. I used to do some consulting work for them.

OK... That would make some sense. I thought it referred to some sort of feature (JD Sells a top dresser)... I saw the adds, saw a yellow tractor and went it is a Cat brand or JD Brand dresser dozer...

Guess I will put my suit back and put on my t-shirt and shorts...

My father has a Dresser TD8 dozer (sweet little machine) and we get parts from the local Komatsu dealer. I looked it up, and the history of Komatsu shows a final purchase of their joint venture in 1994.

And yes, Dresser was once International's heavy equipment line.

I always thought "dresser" referred to a small dozer which is used to dress up and finish grade work that a larger dozer would not be right for. You can take a small dresser (D3 or so) and back blade a grade and really make it look nice where as a D7 or something large would just be too much.
