Optima battery for TC35DA?

My battery was dead when I went to start it. I tried jumping it but after running it off the jeep for 30 minutes, I still could only get it to click. It wouldn't turn over.

I was thinking about an Optima battery. What do you guys think?

Optima batteries are good for tractors. Mine is now about 7 years old. If your tractor would not start as you mentioned; I would clean terminals at battery and also check the negative cable at the frame connection. Have your battery tested at an automotive store.

Thanks for the reply. I had it tested at my mechanic's shop. It was deader than a door nail. I checked on prices of both Interstate and Optima. Optima was twice as much. I think I'll go with the Interstate. Thanks again for the reply.

How old is your 35DA and how many hours does it have. I bought mine in March '08 and have 33 hrs on it. I know it sat on the lot a long time and was built in '06. Just trying to get a feel of how much more time I have before I have to replace the battery.

IMO spending the extra for an AGM battery isn't justified for most applications.

If maintained properly, one should get 4-6 yrs service. One thing LA batteries don't like is to be left in a partial or fully discharged state. LA batteries have a low self discharge rate and can be left unused for periods of 6 months and still have a large % of charge left.

Was working on the batteries in my motorhome yesterday and have been neglecting one of the batteries as it is hard to get at. Needed a lot of water to top up as it has been on a 3 stage charger for many months. Was on a charger for about 18 hrs, did a 4A/3hrs discharge this morning and right now looks like battery is about 25% down. This battery was put into service in 02.

Keep all the connections clean and tight, keep the battery charged and you'll see a long service life.
