I took the new Honda Big Red out for a short demo ride and inspection. I listed out my thoughts below.

Good
* Solid Stance
* Appeared well built
* Handled easily

Bad
* Strange shifting. The vehicle was always looking for the right gear both up and down. The dealer also warned me before the ride.
* Not a very speedy or smooth ride.
* A lot of plastic (500 lb capacity bed)
* Price 11,399 + 200 electronic gauges + 500 more for Camo

I think on the play side all these are better choices both on price and features:
Ranger, Rhino, RZR, Teryx all better

I think on the work side all these are better choices both on price and features:
RTV,XUV,Ranger

I know Honda is late to the market with this offering and will probably keep this model around awhile before changes but I think they fell short with this model.

I think this model might be a collectors item - they need to rethink the market IMHO,

Did it have power steering and power brakes?

Thats what I expect from honda. But, I still go back tot he Ranger for the bench seat and 3 seat belts. With kids, I need the bench seat, or a crew model. i would rather have the bench!:D

I really prefer the buckets of the Gator but I needed more room. So, I went Ranger Crew. I miss my Gator at times, but this Ranger Crew rocks. Why not a Gator with 4 buckets? That would rock,

Rack and Pinion steering with all wheel power disk brakes. Dealer also claimed you could cut three of the four brake lines and still have brakes. The easiest way for me to describe it was that it drives like a small car and not a utv.

Power rack and pinion would be nice:D

I would like the diesel gator. Issue is water. The belt on a diesel is not covered and can get wet easily, leaving you stranded, or buying a new belt. At this point, I keep waiting for all of them to improve a little. Once the ranger has power brakes, I might budge......

I agree - a diesel (Gator has the best in it) with atleast 4 seats and some more storage.

Wow, the Gator doesn't have a sealed CVT, at least optional?

The gas one is sealed, the diesel is open at the top.
