New Cub vs Used Ferris

New Cub Z-Force 60, commercial grade, 60", 23HP Kawasaki, with 2 year $3500.

Used Ferris Cut Pro Z, 61", 23HP Kawasaki #FH680V, 560Hrs, $2800.

It would depend on the condition of the Ferris. It could be 'like new' with that many hours or could be beaten to death. One of my best friends bought one of those Cub machines and it didn't last to 500 hours before it was completely cooked. His dealer told him he needed a new pump and a new engine as well as new deck bearings and wheel bearings. His yard is about 2 acres with mild hills.

The dealer who is selling the used Ferris said he performed all the maintenance on it every year and has the records. Knows the people who owned it before and even would go to their house each season to pick it up for maintenance.

The previous owner traded it for a new Ferris.

Ferris is supposed to be in good condition. I don't know enough about mower to yeah or nay its mechanical condition.

If it's a MTD/cub stay far away...very far away. Unless Yanmar built the cub you are looking at, which they didn't, just stay away from cub. Currently, Yanmar builds the cub SCUT and CUTS. Buy the Ferris if it's in good shape.

That's sort of my thoughts as well. With any luck Cub can start bringing the Cub name back up from the very bottom of the barrel on quality by using Yanmar made products. I've never had any issues with Yanmar built products.

You are correct this model is build by MTD. They are listed everywhere in the fine print of the warranty and manual. No reference to Yanmar.

Go for the ferris if it is in good shape. I started out with one off the zforce models and sold it when it was in good shape cause i knew it would not last with what I was doing with it. It is very cheaply made compared to the ferris.
