Anyone know how long Crossbow or Roundup will last? I have some in my garage, unused at this point.
TEG,
Noticed your comment on your pto. Did they tell you it was designed that way? Your tractor uses a manual shift lever for the pto, correct? I have a B model and jammed the pto shaft and it created about the same issue for the front pto but was able to get it disconnected, and since I do not use it was not an issue. kt
Bird, If you are into "testing" RoundUp... your 1.5oz in 24oz is the same as 8oz in a gallon OR about 6.25% solution. I can tell you that even a 2% solution or 0.5oz in 24oz will work for most things... and will save you money. On the last page for the original RoundUp label - 2% is the highest it recommends.
Next time you need it, any product that contains glyphosate will work. Why pay for the Roundup advertising, I get mine at Tractor Supply for about $41 per gal.
that is the wife on the Roundup. I am the crossbow addict. Nothing has worked quite like it on my blackberry issue. Good idea on the the roundup. I assume that it hits broadleaf and leaves grasses alone?
What I have is "Roundup Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate Plus" according to the label on the front of this quart container. The "Active Ingredients" list is (1) Glyphosate, isopropylamine salt . . .18.00%, (2) Diquat Dibromide . . . 0.73% and (3) Other Ingredients . . . 81.27%.
I think they make several different strength "concentrates" but don't really know. The label says "For Best Results . . . 6 fl. oz (12 Tbs) per gallon of water". Farther down it says "For easy to kill weeds such as seedlings add 3 fl. oz (6 Tbs) to 1 gallon of water."
So for this concentrate that I have, I figure there's 128 ounces per gallon and if you use 6 oz. for 128 oz. of water then for 24 oz. of water the ration would be 1.125 oz of concentrate. Now since that 1.125 oz. is going to displace that amount in the 24 oz. bottle, 1.07 oz. of concentrate would have been plenty, but I didn't have my calculator out there, don't use a lot of Roundup, so I don't spend much money on it, and I wanted to be sure it was strong enough.
So, I've no doubt you're right, but not sure we're looking at the same strength concentrate, and either way, yep, I mixed it a bit strong. But this quart has to be at least 2 years old and now I've used nearly half of it.
