Hi guys !
Congratulations for that helpful forum

I bought an old snowblower for cheap ,
If someone could take a look at the pictures and give me an idea of the brand ,it would be appreciated .
I got no clue ......
I have only paid 250$ for it....only needs a good paint job and welding a few cracks .
The Pto shaft goes trough the rear end into a Differantial instead of a gear box .

Were these blower hard to turn ? it is 60 inches wide
Would my little Kioti CK20 22hp , be able to turn it ?

Thanks to all of you

unless there's something wrong with it ,you shouldn't have any trouble with your CK20 running it.
I have a Smyth 60" and the only time it'll bog down is in very heavy wet stuff more than a foot deep or in piles. Then just slow down with your hydro.
Fresh dry snow over a foot I can go full speed in reverse ,no problem.

Probably the only problem your likely to have is stiff neck after an hour or so.

glad to hear that :)!

The only problem left now is to find out what is the brand of that snowblower....

I run a 60" on my Mitsubishi 20 HP with no problems for last 6 years.
In real deep snows like last winter in Quebec I would occasionally lift the blower about 4" make a 20 ft pass and return to finish then make a half pass to widen the drive.
You will soon learn a few tricks like that.
Trick is to bite less if the RPM's drop off.
It will get so that your ears will tell you if the bite is too much.
In lighter snow falls you will be real happy that you have that 60 inch blower.

Just keep up the RPM's

It's hard to see, your pictures don't increase in size when you click on them.

I was told it could be a Castonguay or an old Pronovost...
I'll be back soon with pictures ....

Shucks, Prevost is 15 mins from here.
Shame, we could have shared a coffee and talked up tractors.

From the pics you post it looks like an earlier model that probably uses an old car differential as a gearbox. Think they were commonly used on old ford tractors and the like.
Probably much more rugged than the modern units.

As to brand name, dont bother, just lube everything and at worst change any questionable bearings before winter.
Also repair any bad welding as often older blowers have tossed a few rocks and kinda beat up the welding.

Must say at that price you can't go wrong.

Bonne chance!
