Unfortunately suffered a bit of rib damage two weeks ago (4 broken in 8 places on the left side) and you can believe what you hear, the pain from even a little cough for the 1st week is truly world class. Did give me some time off work to mess in the garage which took my mind off it.

The bumper for the FEL stop eliminates the slam when you dump the bucket too fast. It is fiber reinforced rubber kind of like a tire. Also made a rock sling out of #43 1/4" galvy chain. Can be shaped to the rock and has a slip loop at the top to cinch up tight when you lift.

Also a shot of the re routed exhaust pipe which used to blow all over the fel arm and back at me. I used 1 1/2" copper fittings and high temp black silicone tubing which can flex if it hits a rock or stump. Also a shot of the fel eye which I finally got around to painting.

Pretty cool ideas...I especially like the rock sling - can't say as I would have thought of that.

Any idea on what, if any, backpressure issues are created by extending the exhaust with the curves?

5030,

The diameter of the new elbows is 1/4" bigger than the factory outlet, and the flex pipe 1/4" on top of that - gut feeling is that unless the engine is pegged, the flow should be ok.

Nice Work:)
Really curious about the rock sling -- trying to figure outhow it is put together and functions on the three point -- I have seen a metal frame one on another forum but would love to see more detail on yours. Cannot quite figure it out:eek:

Studor,

Rock is rolled onto the chains, furthest two loose ends are linked tight around near the "bottom" of the rock, next two around the middle, the two inboard chains running front to back are linked always to the ring, and the two outboard lifting chains slip throught the ring cinching the rock tight as you lift - they are both attached to a swivel. The chains are attached at all intersections and ends with shackles making the assembly very adjustable and easy to trap any shaped rock up to two + feet in diameter - as big as any I have and also at the limit of the tractors capacity. I lift with the bucket or BH, not the 3ph. Am looking into getting a small trailer, something like the Polar black poly one in the Northern tool catalog. Does anyone out there own one? - hard to tell how sturdy the plastic is from just a picture.

Great ideas and pretty ambitious given the broken ribs. I don't think someone that's never experienced how uncomfortable that is can truly appreciate it. You suddenly become very aware of just how often you breath, cough, twist, etc. I had too smile because you made me instantly remember the absolute dread of knowing your about to cough and trying as hard as you can to stifle it. 8 fractures and your out in the garage........I think you made that rock sling to carry your BA!!S ;)
Good work on your projects and A+++ on tackling them!

Darryl,

Actually I made the rock sling to retrieve my stones which had ascended temporarily to become ovaries - from your text I know you've been there - "dread" is an apt description.

Couple pics for W.A.T.T. - will take some better shots in better lighting later - 2 banks of 14 blue leds on each rail and the red is my avatar

Some pics of the rock sling in action. Am finishing the stone wall on the side of the driveway. These were pulled out of the bank the wall holds back by the back hoe.
