I want to get a loader for the bx2230 but have a few questions. How much different design is it from the new loaders on the bx series?

Will the controls stay on the tractor?

Can I get it with a 4 way valve?

How much should one expect to pay?

Does the bucket have a quick attach option?

with my 2230 loader valve stays with tractor,4 way valve I think that is what they call it,I'm not sure of the price mine came with tractor 3 yr's ago ck local dealer for sure, my bucket does not come off loader arms with a quick hitch, but loader comes off in about 1 min.

The bucket itself is similar in capacity. The most obvious difference is the "bent" arms vs. the "curved" arms. They say it makes the FEL easier to use by clearing up the view of the bucket. Sitting on a BX2350, I don't disagree, but other than that, there is no functional difference between the new and old loader. One other nice thing is that the "kickstand" on the new loader is a one-motion affair...one piece with one pin. The old loader has a kickstand on each arm, so you have to deploy it on one side, walk around the tractor, then deploy it on the other side. Not that big of a deal, but unnecessary...the new loader definitely wins out on this one if those extra 10 seconds really matter to you.

I have a 3-way valve that comes off with the FEL. I have no other (or desire for any other) front implements, so it hasn't been an issue...preferable, really, to get that joystick out of the way when the FEL is not attached. But you can get a 4-way stick that stays with the tractor...you just need to order the right LA211 assembly to accomodate that "optional" setup vs. the "standard" 3-way valve. And, of course, order the 4-way assembly seperate from the LA211 FEL. Shouldn't be that big of a deal for your dealer.

I paid $2,400 for my loader 2.5 years ago. I'd expect it to be a few bucks more now, and I'd add another few hundred for the seperate 4-way control valve.

I'm sure somebody much smarter than me could fashion a QA setup so you could swap out the bucket quickly, but there is not one available from Kubota. Honestly, the capacity of the FEL is such that there isn't much else you could do with it, even if you had a QA. Couldn't lift a round bale with a spear...can attach forks to the bucket very easily already (BXpanded)...I'd just get some chain hooks welded on, is all.

And everyone says to get a toothbar...I don't have one and have been getting along just fine.

But then there's the grapple. Boy, I'd love to have a grapple. Ones are made for the BX FEL, but I haven't justified it yet.

I think the nicest advantage the newer loader has is that the controls stay on the tractor when you take the loader off. That way I can still operate my front hydraulic snow plow.
My neighbor has a BX2200 and he hates that the controls come off.

Oh and the mounting brackets are different. More like reversed once you look at both of them in comparison. The BX2200 looks like a large C-channel that the loader arms go into. It's kind of hard to see to get it lined up.
The newer design, the brackets have a lot less material and its very easy to line up the arms to sit in the bracket.
This may all very well be personal preference and I'm sure others have no problems once they've done it a few times.

So the newer design will work on the 2230?

I believe nearly every aspect of the loader is different. I am not sure if the bolts to the frame are ultimately in the same place...that would be the critical item in making the new loader "fit" the older machine.

To say there is only this difference and that difference is with regard to FUNCTIONALITY, not the actual mounting of the new FEL to the old frame. I know in my post, that is what I meant...not that there are no other differences that DON'T affect functionality.

I'd swing by the Kubota store and see if the bolt holes for the new loader line up with your frame.
