I recently bought a 42 inch brush hog on E-bay. This is a World International Agricultural Corp. (IM 420) machine. From what I understand, the company went out of business about three years ago. I have found dealers who can fix this machine and replace parts - so far everything is working great. I had trouble locating a manual but a very nice woman in Ohio (connected to the original company) is going to send me a copy of a manual of a very similar (but not exact) brush.
This is my present problem. I was not sure about the sheer bolt (I was concerned that it may not be the proper soft metal, #2) so I removed it without much difficulty. I then wanted to slide the shaft off of the gearbox so that I could clean both and replace the shaft plastic covering (which is somewhat beat up). I'm having trouble pulling the shaft off of the gearbox. I'm wondering if I'm missing some extra button somewhere or is it just stuck on/rusted? I was able to move the shaft approximately 1/4" down off the hole. Is it possible that it is not supposed to be removed at all? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Jester
