I'm gonna research that some more, after the hunting trip. As much dust as I got into this summer, I think extra wouldent hurt.

OK, Montana used to use an inner and an outter filter on the compacts. Every machine had both but about 2 years ago when we started to PDI some machines we found only the outter filter. I contacted Montana and asked where the other filter was and was told that LG/LS had sent out a memo that an inner was no not necessary. They never had a problem and removing the inner gave better performance with .

I have this product notice here in front of me.

The product notice I got on this was dated May 22nd 2006 and for all the previous models incl, 2740, 3040, 3840, 4540,4340 and 4340C ,4940 and 4940C and 5740 and 5740C.

I think although we now have the new models like the 4344 etc. that the bulleting is still applicable. I will check and let you all know but I am 99.5% confident no inner air filter anymore.

Hi Maka,

Would you know the primary filter particle filtering size? (Did I even say that right?) I don't mind running an inner filter if it keeps from dusting the motor, even if it affects HP a little. I have very dusty conditions sometimes. We call it moon dust, it's so fine and deep. Like talcum powder.

Also, do you know a part # for the fuel filter?

Thanks!
Jerry

Bump...

Anyone have a fuel filter part # for WIX or any other Generic?

Also, what oil and how much to use for:
1. Front end
2. Engine
3. HST transmission

Finally;
Can anyone point out where to find the drain plugs and fill points for all these things? Photos?

Thanks!

(How was the hunting trip?)

My napa store here has a tractor section I asked them if they had part numbers for things for a montana and they had a fuel and oil filter number. You might check with a Napa store in your area and see what they have.

dug most of it out of the owners manual.
ft end is between 2 and 2.5 gallons of standard gear oil
hyd and hst are one and the same; my supplier will get me "Hyd Tractor Oil"; meets requirements in hyd and hst systems, its used at all the big equipment dealerships here (Pape' Cat)
