I've got my filters, now I need the oil. Can anyone recommend a brand? I've been thinking I'll use SuperTech Tractor and Hydraulic Transmission Oil from Wal-mart.

I used the supertech on my gear oil. As far as hydraulic oil I used a local tractor stores brand as theirs was less than Walmart.I don't see alot of difference in the hydraulic oils. I paid 19.99 per 2.5 gallon container. It was a useable size to put into the tractor also. Make sure you use the tractor for an hour or so to get the hydralic oil good and warm so it flows out.

Now as far as crank case oil I did switch to to synthetic. I've used synthetic for several year in all my vehicles. The diesel version of the synthetic is very expensive though. $5.77 a quart at walmart.

Thanks Jack, I also use synth for my motors. I have a diesel truck so I'll stick with the brand I'm using for that. I'll see what my local tractor dealer wants for tractor oil and if they can beat Walmart. I thought they sold the tractor oil in 5 gallon buckets for about $35 there; $7 per gallon.

So, anyone else have a thought on the oil? Tranny/hydraulic, engine, front end, even the grease fitting lube?
Cheers!

Air I believe is
Donaldson------P821575 Sure of it but open yours and it should be on the filter.

Don't have a cross for the fuel right now.

Thanks,
Maka

Boy was that wrong! You recommended I check but I didn't; just trusted you knew what you were talking about. My 4344 filter part # is P822768, not P821575 which is a much smaller filter. Oh, well. It's only money I guess.

Also, the owner manual speaks very specifically of the second air filter that fits inside the primary air filter. Upon inspection of my air filter, it is VERY obvious that there is dirt/dust on the inside of the element. This has me extremely upset and concerned that I have dusted my engine.

One last thing; What should the condition of the transmission/hydraulic oil look like at the 50 hour service and for that matter, the engine oil as well? I have a diesel engine truck and the oil goes very black in only a few hours of operation. My tractor engine oil is a golden honey color and the transmission/hydraulic oil looks as clean and clear as the new oil I am replacing it with. It sure seems a waste to toss out such clean looking oils...

I checked around a little more for the air filter as the first price I Got on the wix was $35. I Was a6t O'reilly Auto parts which are popular auto parts stores here in Missouri. I had them see what it crossed to. They came up with a Pro-line 7-093998 (which is normally theri lawn & garden line) THEY ORDERED ONE and it came in one day and it is a perfect match. Looking at it closely it is a Donaldson P821575. So I got the donaldson filter for about $17 Check around for these things they vary in cost tremendously.

Good find there Jack!

Anyone have a lead on the fuel filter?

Oh, BTW, I highly recommend the inner air filter that Montana has decided isn't needed any more. It's obviously a much better deal and my stock filter had dust on the inside of it when I replaced it a few weeks ago, so I know an inner filter will do a job.
