The machines could use more steel, In the case of the L-39 about 1000 Lbs worth and in the case of the M-59 about a tonne.

If you want the weight, you can always add ballast. There is no need for that weight in structural steel. Having this on every machine would only be problematic for us. Infact, I think you'd find many more people wanting their M59 lighter than heavier.

IMHO this applies to both the L39 and especially the M59:

The machines could use more steel, In the case of the L-39 about 1000 Lbs worth and in the case of the M-59 about a tonne. A minimum 12.5 x 16.5 skidsteer front tire with HD Front axle would help the machines in soft ground.

Cab option for both also.

I know weight is an issue, both being too heavy to tow or too light to do heavy ground engagement.

One of the perks of this business is the ability to play with all these fine toys! I've seen units to light, you can add weight! I've seen units built to heavy, your stuck with a dog!
The one thing that these units were built for is to be able to be trailered without a large truck and the aggrivation along with the extra costs. They give people the reach they need, they will carry a decent load, and they are very flexible with attachments that other units can't carry.

There is no one machine that is right for everyone!!!!

I had tire ballast on my 39 but the 59 without it suits me better.

and I love the tire ballast on mine. Its nice to have options - if it were built to my specs, it'd be too heavy for Chato.

The cab would be a really nice option, especially if "convertible" so I could let the breeze in when I wanted. I'm guessing the combination of the cab, swing seat, and removable backhoe is tough to engineer.

A JD 210LE or the Case 570 skips weigh in at around 14.000 pounds. That requires a truck, not a pick up, and capable trailer to transport. Weight and hydraulic capability is what you look for in a good TLB or a TL. The M59 is a good tractor for what it is. You can put it on a trailer and pull it behind your 3/4 ton or a one ton pick up. You can't with a real construction tractor.

When you look at the big stuff, the 210LE has about 8 or 9000 pounds of FEL brake out force and a lot more lift capacity than the M59. They are heavy steel real construction tractors. We are talking about two completely different animals here. For the hobbiest or a guy who does light construction work the M59 would work okay. But if you want to move a lot of dirt, or dig large holes quick, you have to step up to a real construction tractor. The 210LE is around $56,000.00 OTD. The Case 570 is about the same. The backhoes are about $20,000.00 more than a skip. It's all relevent.

This is a good observation, just depends on what you are needing the tractor for. Out here in CA I have seen 1 ton duallys pulling full size skips. I'm assuming they are overweight. I'm not sure what the rating on some of the new duallys are.

Really? If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for yours? I have been looking hard at the M59 for a while but there is no way I would pay an additional 6K for one...

No, I don't mind. I paid $42,500 with 3 point hitch and the rear hydraulics for the backhoe thumb. In all fairness he may have priced it to cheap to begin with. I have since added the thumb, front 3rd function hydraulic, tool box and rear remotes. Oh I fogot that included delivery two and a half hrs one way
