Hydraulic Hoses for 400CX Grapple

I have a 4120 with a 400CX with third SCV and would like to add a grapple, and have a few questions.

1) What is the best way to get hoses from the 3rd SCV to Grapple Connection.
A. Does John Deere make a Hose Kit - if so is it metal or rubber hose?

B. If I have to get hoses made, what size do I need? Will 3/8" work since I dont need speed? If so can anyone give the a source for the QC fittings?


2) Can anyone give me an approximate cost for either or both options?

Local dealer says only option is custom rubber hoses, and could not give me a price. I find that hard to beleive since Fronteer sells several types of grapples.

Deere has a kit. It is posted on here if you can search. I found it as an accessory on the Deere website, under build your own. It fits both the 300 and 400 loaders. It has rubber lines that go from rear scv to the mid position where the loader qc's are. Then rubber to hard lines just like those already on your loader. I got mine with the tractor but the price was not bad. I also did the install in about an hour. JC

8934, here are a couple of pics of the hard lines, hoses and fittings. Just like RollerTide said its an easy self install job.

Below pic: The new hard metal lines stack on the loader with a new bracket.

Below pic: The hard lines end with two quick couplers that are set up so you can't interchange them and reverse the function by accident.

Below pic: Here is how you plug into your rear third valve to run hyd. to the front. I didn't like the hoses just hanging when they were not in use.

Below pic: To run hyd to the front for a 4in1 bucket I use the two jumper hoses. To run a rear implement I just plug into the two rear ports of the 3rd valve.

Below pic: So, I did some replumbing and some short jumper hoses to come up with my current setup.

Does anyone know if the hard lines will work on a 300 loader. I ran hoses on my 790 for my angle on the FEL blade and this would certainly be cleaner. My loader CD says for the 300CX loader.

Mech, if the boom on the 300 is the same shape, angle and length as the 300cx I would say the Kit would work on your 300 loader.

That's what I don't know and my dealers have been pretty unreliable re questions like this. I guess I will ask them anyway.

Just make a cardboard template of one side of your boom and see if it lines up with a 300cx boom. Or measure the hardlines on your loader and compare those measurements with the 300cx.

I found the part numbers for the kit on JD's Website after I knew what to look for.

Bundle Number BW15260, or code 9049 in the build a tractor option if anyone else is looking.
