why you can get parts anywhere if you know what your doing you can take parts off a peterbuilt and make them work on a sterling unlike a ford or dodge or chevy all class 8 trucks parts are interchangable to a point

Maybe some good deals on the leftover Sterling Bullets? I'd buy one in a heart beat for the right price. Just get friendly with the local Dodge parts guys.

Well, first of all, I said a Sterling Bullet, not a class 8 truck.

Also, it ain't all about parts. It's also about resale value and public perception. If you buy a truck that is no longer made, it rapidly depreciates. When it comes time to sell, a truck that never was built in big numbers (unlike even the older L series Fords) will bring pathetic resale.

Why would anyone buy a Sterling when they could get a similar truck from Dodge that's not being discontinued? Lanscapaer buddy of mine has a Sterling bullit and he's pretty disgusted they went belly-up.

Unless GM and Chrysler merge...:D

Dodge trucks may not survive that merger...

I finally saw a Sterling Bullet the other day on the road. Only the grille gave it away as being a rebadged Dodge. Otherwise it looked like any other Ram I've seen.

It's too bad the link to the story Builder provided didn't work as I would have like to have read it.

Remember, Brockway trucks before their demise were rebadged Mack's.

So if GM & Chrysler merge, would that mean Cummins engines would show up in Chevies & GMC's, and Allison trannies in Dodges? Somehow I think a GM/Chrysler merger would be far more awkward for the two companies than the Daimler/Chrysler merger was. If they do merge, will Pontiac and Buick brands disappear? Or maybe Buick's will only be sold in China because as I understand it, the Chinese covet Buick's.
