montana 2840
is it true that my 2840 does not need a subframe, is this for montana backhoes only or is it for any hoe on the market. are all the montanas the same way? is this the only manufacturer like this?

I am not sure about your model tractor but most tractors will take either subframe or 3pt hitch backhoes. Some tractors cant take subframes becuase they dont make them for certain tractors but most if not all can take a 3pt hitch one.
maybe someone with that model has one and can chime in or maybe a dealer.

I have the same tractor you have. I bought mine with the hoe attachment right from Montana dealer. I find the Montana one has a very strong top link which minimizes the movement that 3pts can have. I have used it for moving 800# rocks, trenching, tree removal. I added a thumb to the hoe that little gizmo is great I love it.

Only thing I wish it was able to dig deeper than 8 feet. but with a little tweeking I can get that extra distance.
