New Lincoln grease gun - can't get it off

man, i'm glad i found this.......i had 3 old grease guns that all worked flawlessly as far as removing them......

i've bought two new ones lately and cringe every time i have to use them.....like an idiot, i tightened the end thinking that would help.........i've had grease come out from around that fitting........

no wonder my wife questions my judgement on a regular basis!;)

There was another thread a while back discussing the fun of using grease guns. Every time I think about it I get this mental picture of me and the tractor and the grease gun and being pretty sure there is far more grease on me, on the grease gun and on the tractor than in the tractor where it belongs. I get a chuckle out of it every time but at the same time have to wonder if there is not a better way?!?!?

"I haven't read this thread recently, but isn't it common knowledge that the coupler is supposed to be removed from the zerk fitting by removing it at an angle-in other words, push it off the zerk sideways? Just my 2 cents too late!"

The biggest problem I have with this is when greasing an area where you can't angle the gun to remove it. For instance, when greasing the spindles on my grooming mower, I have the tip of the gun about an inch down inside a hole in the belt cover. Or, it will be snaked in between the three-point hitch parts and a U-joint with no room to move laterally.
