Another truck plow on tractor

I used a Rotozip to cut the slot for the lever. The under side of the plastic has the markings for it, so if you remove the seat and lever knobs, you can take that plastic apron off to see the outline.
A Dremel with a sheetrock cutting bit would work good too.

Well I got it and installed the rear remotes, definitely had to remove seat, seat pan wheel and fender, took me about 8 hours. had some help with the plumbing from kenny over on the hydraulics forum.

I did this just for a project, I don't have to rely on this set up for snow but I think it might help out with the clean up, especially picking up the tailings left behind by the loader bucket.
Only have about $350. into this with the 3rd scv. I'm not gonna be ramming snow banks with this, I know this would not be good with the floating 3pt, the way I think it will work good is with the 3 pt all the way down then the push is downward, I did test it a little in dirt and it didn't push up the 3 pt even with enough push on the plow to trip the blade down flat.

You'll see in the pics that in the lifted position the plow hangs down, it's still plenty high enough off the ground but it leaves enough slack in the chain when the 3 pt is all the way down allowing the blade to float into dips in uneven ground.

I'm really looking for criticism, compliments or predictions, like I said I did this kinda on a whim, and for conversation here.

JB.

It looks nice.

My only thought, is that with the lack of down pressure on the 3pt, the plow may end up raising the 3pt arms for you while pushing heavy snow.

I hope I'm wrong.

jimmer,
That was my first concern, the 3pt raising up, but like I said I did test it out a little in the dirt and it seems as long as the 3pt is all the way down the draft links are angled downwards and the force of pushing the plow seems to be downward also, in the dirt at least it wasn't rising, I'm sure the snow may make things more unpredictable.
My second big concern is that the 7 and a half foot plow is just to big for my tractor, I'll try it out but if it can't push it I'll cut it down to 6'

aczlan,
Thanks, that one picture in the link you put up gives me enough of a starting point if I decide to make that blade power angle. I asked the dealer and they said there is no factory option for that blade.

Great idea, but my only advice would be "Be Careful".....3pt's are really not designed to push....I managed to bend one of my 3pt arms into a taco with my BB....

I don't think that will be too much for your tractor. I used a 7' plow on my old 15 PTO hp Diesel Yanmar (4wd) for many years. Granted, we only get a "big" dump (big=3') every 5 or so years. Most years, we average 30 inches yearly.

Looks good to me. The only thing that looks like I would do it shorten the chain up a little and put the skid shoes back on. I dont think I would cut it down either. If your tractor can handle a 7' or 8' rear blade this should be no problem especially with it being able to angle. Need some action pics.

With the chain I had to find the happy medium, I may be able to take a little more in on it, it is almost 2' off the ground when raised now. Does look better when it's level but I can only use this set up when the 3pt is all the way down to prevent the plow from pushing the 3pt back up, with less slack in the chain when the 3pt is all the way down there is not enough travel for the plow to float through some of the substantial swales and other obstacles in my yard.

In the winter I use the high volume 73" snow bucket on my loader, which moves alot of snow in a short amount of time but takes alot of time to move the little bit of snow that's left over, that's where I think this power angle plow is going to speed things up.
I wont be pushing back high snow banks with this plow in the raised position because of the lack of down pressure on the 3pt and the obvious problems that would cause, but maybe I could put some type of limiter chain to the draw bar.
