Ditto what the others said about the bolts and boards. I wasn't thrilled with drilling all new holes thru my support webbing every time i redeck.. so what I did was cawled under the trailer and used a drill with small pilot bit and brille dup thru the old holes.. then on top.. hogged the holes out with proper bit and put the torx head self-tapper bolts back in.

Thanks Soundguy. Maybe I'll bring it to Florida when I visit my brother in law. I'm thinking it would be easy just to watch you do it. Just kidding.

Speaking of that.. i redecked mine in 2001 or so.. and I bet it's gonna need a new deck next year.. I got one board with a crack in it near the front so far..... luckilly the crack is over a support so no issues yet..

I re-decked mine because my Dumb-*** brother in law borrowed my trailer and set the deck on fire.

He paid for the wood but still...

Some people.

I replaced the deck on a 16 foot trailer I had as follows.

Drilled three holes in the two cross members on the trailer and bolted 2X6 pt to the cross members. Then, used regular deck screws to fasten the deck to the 2X6 since their only purpose was to hold the deck boards down. A lot easier than trying to screw the new deck into the metal.

Great Thread!
I stepped through the deck at the end of the summer.

What wood should I use?
I have been told hemlock, tamarack or PT.
Is the $ for PT really worth it? My trailer sits in the open year round.

Thx

Old carpenter's trick is to cut the wood around the screw or bolt with a hole saw and then cut it off with a sawzall.

I think many trailers have a weak point at the rear anyway. On mine, I cut off the rear rail, replace the wood, and then go back with a larger piece of angle.
