Thinking about mounting a truck (8 foot or smaller) plow blade to my bucket. I've searched and seen at least one terrific post on mounting plow to bracket on loader arms, but not directly into bucket.

I'm thinking it would be easy to tack in a couple of tabs to which I could pin a plow a frame into my bucket, hook chain to my chain hook on top of bucket and then figure out a way to run the hydraulics for side to side.

Has anyone done this and if so, any advice?

would be on my LK3054.

Seems plenty heavy enough with hoe on and strong enough to run a 7.5 or 8foot blade?

Thanks,
Joel

We have bucket mounted plow blades. You can get some ideas from the pictures on our website. We have done it when requested, but there are a good number of reasons why we don't do it very often. The most important is the lack of control you have over the blade. When you mount the blade to the bucket, and locate the a-frame to allow room for angling, the blade ends up a loooong way out in front of the tractor. We show a bucket mounted manual angling blade in the PLOW BLADE section of our site.

In the order of the best performing plow blade mounts:

1.Subframe
2.Loader Arm Pin On
3.Universal Quick Attach
4.Bucket Mount

We do them all, the subframe mount out-performs all the rest by a wide margin.

Thanks very much MI, the explanation is greatly appreciated, hate to go through a lot of work to run into problems.

Looks like the pin mount at loader arms would be the best bet for me.

I did a quick job last year and it worked out great. Welded part of a plow frame to angle and bolted onto bottom of bucket. Great at knocking down tall snow banks.

This is exactly what I was thinking about. Where did you splice into the hydraulics to run the angle on the blade?

GREAT PICTURES!!!

I control the angle of the blade from a diverter valve from W.R. Long ( Valve Kits ) that I purchased for my Grapple. If I was to do this over....and I intend to, I would have mounted the bracket closer to the front of the bucket. The further back you go the more you have to mess with the bucket location so as not to get too close to the driveway. So far I have been very happy with the results.

Joel, do you have rear remotes on your tractor, like to run your backhoe.. if so, couldn't you use them? Certainly would be cheaper than a diverter valve.

Was thinking of that, the kicker is, my tractor weighs a whole lot more with the backhoe on. I could always have the hoe on. but just unhook the quick attaches for the hydraulics and hook up a valve for the plow cyls.

Thanks for the note! Hope all is well.
