Need reasonably priced chains for a 2 wheel drive tractor that I would like to use in the snow, and maybe do some plowing with a back blade.
Tire size is 13.6 x 16 R3's Any suggestions on type or supplier?
Thanks, JB.

Thanks guys that site has some great info, but looks like I wont need to buy from them, I found an ad on craigslist for auto parts and tire chains that happened to be close by to where I was going today so I stopped there.
It was an old warehouse for an auto parts store, they let me pick thru about 4 pallets of misc tire chains, some pretty HD, Not as HD as some I've seen on members tractors here but for $150. I got about 5 - five gallon pails of chain and repair acs. I'll have to do some cutting and splicing but when finished I should have enough for 4 complete sets. 2 large sets for Ford and JD cuts rears, 1 set for garden tractor and 1 set for front of 4x4 JD.
They are all v-bar, 4 link spacing, have enough extras to make them all 2 link spacing.
Here's the link to the ad, which doesn't mention the HD stuff, I told the guy that if the members on this site were close by he wouldn't have any left over. he only wanted $1,000. for the lot, thought about buying the whole lot.

Sweet deal JB4310:)

You will be happy when you have 2 link chains all-around. I wish I had bought 2 link chains for my rear tires-better traction and better ride. It costs way more to add the extra links after the fact

Northland,
I see you have the v-bar chains, how to they grip on snow/ice, and do they really damage asphalt? I guess they could be turned over if they are to aggressive.
I was thinking now that I'll have them on the rears that I wouldn't need them on the fronts?

I had my tractor slide sideways more then once on my trails and driveway and it's not a good feeling-pucker effect:eek:

My driveway is crushed stone so I don't worry about the chains hurting it.

The v-bars are awesome for traction on snow and ice. I can go right up 10' snowbanks now. I added the front chains for steering capability and additional traction. You may be fine with chains just on the rear tires. It depends on your ground surface and weather.

I had the tractor in my garage until my wife tripped over the back blade once or twice. The chains scratched up the floors quite a bit. Now the tractor is outside under my extended woodshed.:(
