We Have a New Wood Burning Stove

I often felt that I could keep myself going in firewood supply with what I have growing around my hedgerows. And I have a bit of woods that I own up behind me, plus whatever I could scrounge from my Vt neighbors ! I like the open fields out in front of me but it doesnt heat the house !

I always felt like the outcast,burning wood and having the wood lot ,chainsaws ,splitter,trailers etc .My friends either burned oil,or a few took out there stoves just before things started going up.Ijust sat there smiling ,knowing as long as my woodlot taxes were paid ,my fuel was FREE!Im one of the weird ones who loves to work in the woods and love to work the wood pile.Even as a boy i worked in the woods with my neighbors steers and sled in the winter,i guess it was my upbringing.

Last weekend up in Vt my wife asked me what I wanted to do on a saturday ! She smiled knowing full well what I enjoy doing, working outside, felling trees and cutting them up ! Up in Vt my neighbors dont even blink an eye when they see me out working in the field with a chainsaw and tractor ! Down in Ct I allways felt like my neighbors think Im a bit eccentric cutting and splitting wood with one of my old Farmalls closeby ! But Im like you, I love being outdoors, and feel good after doing a good days work ! Plus it heats the house and you dont need to go and pay a gym membership !

yep free fuel. wood stove $$$$, chain saw$, log splitter$$, tractor$$$$$$$$$$$$ to run log spliter and haul the wood from our woods, the hours of cutting splitting and stacking wood = about $50-60 the average gas and electric bill we pay in the winter months in Michigan for a family of six priceless(I have freinds who in the last few years have paid 200-350 a month for a bill). You can't beat wood heat. I figure in about 120 years or so I will payoff everything it takes to heat for "free".

Uh, that would require me to have carpentry skills, something I currently do not have. My dad called me "the wood butcher" and he loved me!

Yes. We were fortunate to get our 20 acres 18 years ago for $30,000.00. We had just paid off our first house and had no children yet. Soon after that land prices skyrocketed around here. 1/3 acre lots in subdivisions go for that or more now. Yikes! Then we had a child. Then we moved to a larger house. Then we had another child. Then those children started growing and eating and going to school, etc... man they eat money!

Our land taxes are very cheap because it is zoned AG... less that $200.00 a year. If we ever build on it (not likely soon with the ecomy and all) the taxes will be several thousand a year.

But.... all the wood I want for FREE!!!

Heck , you cant count the cost of the tractor in that equation ! We would have a few of them anyway, even if we didnt burn wood !

Trying to come up with a woodsplitter excuse ,then i can call it free fuel.Thats a tough oneYou think im hyper on coffee,ive been drinkin them coffee flavored energy drinks.Mean bean and mocha loca are my favorites.Irun around like a chicken with its head cut off
