I use my fertilizer spreader to spread sand on my driveway when it gets really bad and I need oil for the house. It is an el-cheapo CCM that was about $270 or so. You need to take meticulous care of it or it will not last a season. I am careful to wash it every single time I use it when I fertilize. In the winter, if I use salt in it I wash it with soap and hot water on the driveway after every use. It is still rusty but is going on its 4th season and it works just fine. I get the sense that if I did not care for it I would be able to watch it rot off of the tractor.
