1523 vs. GC Differences?

   / 1523 vs. GC Differences? #21
If you get a loader, you get a pedestal mounted controller. I am not sure why MF stopped selling the 1523 with a BH, but I am sure Woods makes one for it.

We have no loader, so right now no controller. The log splitter has a controller on it, so we use that. We will add an aftermarket controller in the spring.

We relocated the hydraulics from under the right step to under the took box below the ROPS bar. We shut the tractor off, plug the lines in, and the restart, then the opposite to remove. We put the loop back in so we do not dead-head the pump.

Look under the floor board, above the deck.

Relocated.

Also in the pics a tool box from Princess Auto, and a bungee cord used to hold the chute up while driving in the garage.

Off topic a little but, that is a great looking tractor. :)

I've got another question about the GC series. Since I can't see one in person yet, is the hood and rear fenders steel or plastic? Also I can see in the brochure all the slots in the rear fenders where all the levers come through, you can see the rear tires....they are all open. Any issues with the function of those controls, and do you have any problem when running on wet ground of mud and grunge coming up off the rear tires, and running all over the fenders?

Thanks.

Someone else will have to weigh in on the new 2410 & 2610 models, but my 2310 has a metal hood, fenders, and deck - in fact that was one of the reasons why I went with this tractor after seeing (and being disappointed in) all the plastic on the comparable JD & Kubota models.

To be fair, one of the guys I work with has a BX24 and he has never had any problems with the plastic parts on his Kubota. But I still like the metal better.

I have the R4 tires on mine and have had it in some pretty muddy places, but never to the point where it was slinging mud all over the place.

None of these issues with the Kubota BXs which are the same way as the GC series therefore I'd say it's no problem with the GC either.:)

O.K. thanks guys. I'm still unable to be away from work when any dealers are open to go see and try one. I've been reading lots on here about how pump capacity makes a big difference on implement speed. How are the FEL loaders on these small tractors. I've only run heavy equipment, so are the bucket movements quick enough on these sub compacts to have good control when doing things such as levelling the ground. Can yo finess the bucket at all?

LBrown59; I spoke to the local Deere/Kubota dealer last week and he said without going over every option and detail the two are identical in price. And both are way more than the quote I got on a MF. Maybe it's just this dealer and or area, but I always thought the reason most bought a Kubota was because they were priced better than a Deere? I know Kubota is a good machine, but aren't they normally priced a little better? Or has the price gone up due to their popularity now?

In this area, when I bought mine the JD 2305 was the most expensive, then came the MF 2310, then the Kubota BX24 - but as I remember it, the differences were not all that much.

In my case, in the end it boiled down to the Kubota and the MF. The MF has 2 hydraulic pistons for the bucket dumb which I guess is supposed to make it a bit quicker, but that wasn't a deal breaker either.

What did it for me was the power of the MF hydraulic pump at low RPMs. I don't know the GPM specs, but can say that it was my experience that the MF had more power for the BH at lower engine speeds than the Kubota. The 2310 also just seemed to be a better fit for me.

I also got a better feeling from the MF dealer, which in the end was what pushed me in that direction.

IMHO, when you sort it all out, the real difference between any of these SCUTs is minimal; they are all nice units and will do a fine job.

I paid 15500 for my Kubota BX23.
I hadn't heard of the GC2310 at the time but a month or to after getting the bx23 I saw the MF at a dealer lot.
Got a price on it of about 16000 or so.

As a GC owner my only warning would be ground clearance and loader capacity. THE GC loader capacity is great for a subcompact but you'll quickly find there are lots of things you can't pick up. You might give strong consideration to a Kioti CK20. It solves both problems and isn't much more $

I have a GC2310 and really like it a lot. While I have on rare occasion struggled to lift a massive rock, I have filled the bucket with crushed rock and dirt without a problem.

I also really like how this little tractor and work it's way through the woods without having to blaze a two lane road. I can nicely navigate around trees in pretty tight places, even with the backhoe attached.

I did tear one of the little rubber tie rod boots, so now I'm a bit more careful - but it has never prevented me from going where I wanted, and getting back without incident.

It really is perfect for clearing and maintaining my little plot of land.

Good luck!

I just purchased a GC2410 w/ a 60 inch MMM in October and I really love it. I also looked at the BX models and they are really nice machines as well. I have 3 acres and the 2410 is more than enough machine for me. Here is a little :) stump I was able to dig out.....http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/massey-ferguson-owning-operating/132330-stumpin-w-2410-a.html

The rear fenders are now plastic on the GC models. The plastic starts at the end of the floor boards (the floor boards are metal). Haven't had any issues with grunge or controls not functioning, but my experience is limited to a few months.

Unfortunately, the weather has been so miserable lately, I haven't been out playing in the yard (I mean working in the yard).
