On 12-03-08 at approx. 0835 hrs, I, Officer Harkey, was advised of a theft report at 35XX North Washington, Texoma Utility Equipment. Upon arrival I spoke to the R/P, Mr. James Richardson, who advised there was 5 pieces of equipment stolen over night.

The equipment was the Kubota RTV 900 all terrain vehicles. 3 of which were orange and 2 were camouflage in color. A possible green International or Freightliner semi with a lowboy trailer took the equipment. The vehicle entered the lot at 2347 hrs on 12-02-08 and was seen by surveillance cameras. The two occupants of the vehicle then cut the lock on the gate and began to load the equipment on the trailer, which was parked out of the camera view. The occupants appeared to be a heavy set white male and a tall slim black male. Several of the RTVs were parked in the backside of the lot, and one was taken from the front line. The camera never got a good view of the occupant's faces. The vehicle then left the area at 0042 hrs on 12-03-08. It appeared that the vehicle went southbound on 69/75.

Bringing a semi and lowboy trailer means they are serious and know what they are doing. Brazen too!!!!

There was a story that I read about a former theif who stole heavy equipment. He had copies of the forms that the big companies use and would have it written out for a specific piece of equipment that was supposedly being picked up for service or recall work. He would show up, hand the paper to the forman and take the machine. When it didn't come back on the date specified, phone calls were made and that's usually when they realized they'd been robbed. Since it's so common for big jobs to have equipment come and go so often, nobody thinks twice about it.

I know a guy that is a salesman at a large Deere dealer here in town and I couldn't believe the amount of thefts they had had. I mentioned something about the steel pipes filled with concrete that had installed at their place and he said it was to keep out the theives. They had put a tall chainlink fence up because of thefts, but the theives cut through it to bring in a big truck to load up tractors on! They were hit more than once and it was big stuff. They aren't way out in the country either.

my local Deere dealer just put up a HUGE fence surrounding his yard of equipment. he's been in business for years and never has had a need for a fence, but it seems like with the way things are these days he feels more secure. i mean this thing looks like a military style fence! sucks for customers though as some like to stop by and take a close look and sit on tractors after hours. now you have to go during store hours and mess with salesman that see you on the yard.

He didnt put it up because of theft. He put it up to keep you off the tractors when they arent open.:D

Equipment theft is a huge problem. You won't find a dealership that has not been hit. I don't think a year has gone by that we've not had somthing stolen.

I know the dealers around me have had thefts, but nothing large. Mostly people stealing parts off of things in the lots.
2 years ago there were 2 tractors stolen from private owner but nothing from dealers.

Wait until they go to unload them and they are stuck in gear, or are thrown through the windshield when they let off the throttle. Worse yet they get into a very very low speed chase with an officer on foot and cannot get away. Could happen if they are trying to unload them in one of the western mountain states.
