I'm about as far due south of Eel River Crossing as you can get without getting wet in the Bay of Fundy.

Oh, as a point of interest, I've got a fellow at work that's been arguing that he wants the mirrors taken off the tractors because other people are actually USING them. He figures a "real" operator turns around. I keep telling him politely that a "real" operator uses all the tools that he's given. :)

Years ago I use to operate heavy equipment. One time I was on a 992 cat loader and a new driver backed in with a truck to be loaded. The truck had a multitude of mirrors on it but I had to laugh when I noticed the driver with his door open, hanging out of the truck looking back as he backed up to the boom of the loader. His job as a truck driver was very short lived  I totally agree with you and your statement.

As for the Cab Camera. I feel the more visibility the better especially at night.

I agree. Some of us old folks got our drivers license and initial driver training back in the days when they told you to turn to look back when backing, to turn and look back before changing lanes (of course there were darn few 4 lane roads, but we did have some that were paved:)), etc. And cars with outside, or side view, mirrors were very rare. Most cars only have the one inside rear view mirror. In fact, in the late '50s I used to sell some aftermarket mirrors that could be mounted on the doors or on the fenders.

But now I wouldn't want to buy one without power mirrors on both sides. I used the "back up" camera on the motorhome, and that particular motorhome came with manually adjustable mirrors so before I bought it I told the salesman they'd have to take those off and replace them with power mirrors, which they did.

That is funny. I actually find that a large box truck is easier to back up just using mirrors then my little Toyota. It's kind of funny.

Notice the DVD input?

I think I'll add a wireless laptop to mine so I keep up with the posts here while I work. :D:D:D

Well I finally found a back up camera that I'm happy with. Called Cab Cam it has a LCD 7 inch monitor. Comes with an inferred camera and a bunch of other stuff. Hooked it up last evening and tried it in the dark and was surprised in how well it worked.

Today I had to travel the tractor up the road to move some gravel for a friend. Camera worked great. The only complaint is if the sun is directly on the camera. That kind of messes it up a bit but I guess it's the same if we looked directly at the sun. We wouldn't see so well either. Comes with a remote and two different lengths of wiring. I only needed the short one for the tractor but the long one would come in handy if you were going to install it in a truck or motor home.

I fabricated the bracket to go under the rear light. Would have liked to mount it in the middle and under the rear of the can but the rear windows opens on the tractor and I didn't want to risk breaking the window buy hitting the camera. All the connectors on it are weather pack sealed including the camera and the camera its self was all cast aluminum. Great quality.
It also has a microphone in the camera and you can hear noises outside. Didn't realize that until I let the blower down. Had to go change my shorts after that.:D Must remember to turn the volume down on the monitor next time I do that.

I did a search and could not find a web site, would you have a link for them?

Will here's the link below. If you got to call them, ask for parts then ask for Chris. He gives great service and the packaging is the best I've ever seen. Just tell him "Short" from Newfoundland sent you. Might get a break on the price. I'm after ordering two from them now. Hope this helps. Paul

I priced the camera at Rural King and it was a little lees money, but 2 to 4 weeks away. SSB had it right in stock. He thought inside of 3 days I would have it in hand.
