So at lunch today my buddy whipped out his new Iphone 3G. It is the sort of thing you do in LA. it used to be cars, now it is your phone...

Anyway, after boring the heck out of me with his light saber noisemaker on the phone he then showed me the software that shows level... Yup. It shows you a level bubble and shows you how far off level you are and it is extremely accurate.

Then he flipped the page to the incinometer. It is way accurate and pretty darn cool.

Seeking to Understand Blog Archive Day 18: Level

So there you have it, just mount your iphone to your tractor and now not only can you tell when you are tipping over, but you can make a quick call to 911 to get you out... Assuming you have reception.

And to think, I use my phone to uh call people ....

Yea, and where did that round dial go?

That's also assuming Apple & ATT got the dropped calls problem or whatever issues they are having fixed in order for one to call 911.

Yea, and where did that round dial go?

A friend of mine said he was going to design a cell phone with a rotary dial for people that like that old stuff.

I asked him how the heck are you supposed to text message with that?

He said you still could, it just would be a lot slower.

I predicted this when the phones first came out. Eventually every piece of personal info, from your finances, medical, and when you last farted will be in there.

Darn... they would have to update my info every 15 minutes or so...:D

You'll be using your phone to pay for purchases so it will be updated anytime you transact business. Bartering will become more popular.

Actually the technology is that you will use your phone as your Library... You will control your home, car, finances life with these pocket devices. In return your moves will be tracked (I could care less about this), your purchases recorded. And with this info advertisers (and I do this for a living, sorry) will then be able to send your phone specific ads for products you might like. And with that little spam clause (they can contact you if you have done business with them) you will get flooded with these ads...

Hang on, the world as we know it is about to end.

That red paint must be awfully expensive.

Does it have a tiny servo motor for auto dial:)

Just and update on this. I told my friend (A real city boy) about posting his cell phone level thingy and he said I was missing half the use of the phone. It has a built in GPS, so not only can you tell when you are tipping over, and not only call 911 to come get your butt, but you can also tell them exactly what ravine you fell down. A pure work of technolgical beauty... If I only liked AT&T....

For better and/or worse the cows will talk before we get cellular telephone service in our area ;). Jay :)

I can buy a fair amount of diesel and play on the tractor for the price of one of the new i-phones with the service plan. A while back, I realized I'm not into the latest and greatest technology anymore, don't even have an i-pod or mp3 player. When the heck did I turn into my dad? I still remember having to set the channels on his car radio and clock on the TV whenever I went over-he never got as far as getting a VCR. Come to think of it, my microwave and range are blinking 12:00....can't say a thing.

I guess everyone has their passions, I like to play with things with motors, tractors, snowmobiles and atvs top the list. In comparison I guess that i-phone looks pretty inexpensive.

Those are the same AT&T problems I am having. I call them, I complain, they acknowledge their problems in my area ( 100,000 population), and then tell me that I am locked into a 2 year plan. Unless I want to pay the early termination charge. When this is over, I am going back to Verizon.

BlueTooth will become an implant. A few Tb of RAM, direct to nerve communication, ESP will become reality. Then it will be bio-engineered and eventually added to our DNA.

In the mean time - I wonder if my wife will mind if I duct tape the Ipod Touch she is getting for X-mas to the hood of the tractor?
