Finally got around to checking out the leaks on the rear tires of my lawn tractor yesterday, and had to put 5 PLUGS in one tire.

Can anybody beat that?

Good Mornin Runner,
No I dont think I could beat that record ! :)

But I aired up the tires on my old Wheel Horse lawn tractor for a few years before I broke down and installed tubes in all the tires !:)

Only 5 plugs???? I changed the ft. tires on my Snapper RER cause slime wasn't working that good any more and the tires looked like a porcupines back with so many Mesquite thorns in them.
My golf cart tires have no less than 5 plugs in each tire and I know one of the rears has almost 20.
Plugs are cheaper than tires.

I do get less flats nowadays.

You can't fex that with tubes cause they get pierced by the thorns.
Replace tires/only fix.

The funny thing is, the typical suburban lot I lived on before, was loaded with thorn-bearing locust trees, and I mowed it every week for 15 years with only a couple of flats. The property I'm on now is six acres and there are only two locust trees on the entire site and I've had nothing but tire problems.

Maybe now that the lawn tractor has been semi-retired to trimming around the edges and pulling the lawn cart, I'll have less problems with this.

The R4's on the 2520 have so far resisted the thorns, but I can see a bunch of them broken off in the tires.

I eradicated all the Honey Locus trees I had on my property just because I have a real dislike for them. My thorn producers are Mesquite & Bodark.

The previous owner of our acreage was burning grass one spring and the fire went out of control on him. It burned down an old grainery that was full of nails, bolts, pins...you name it. When my Wife and I started cleaning the pasture up for horses I must have fixed five flats a day. I have one hole that has five plugs in it alone. Plugs rule!
