Anyone familar with a disc tiller?

In my part of the world they were called disk tiller as you did. We had two with major differences. One was about 5 blades and was more suited for normal field use and then a 2 blade one that was built like a fort or better with difference size blades. That one would cut small trees and roots like nothing. Was slow work and could leave a sharp tree trunk that meant no travel against the flow.

If you look today you will find large super heavy duty disk that are built similar for such as work as cut over forest. You should have no problem cutting in the crop.

I just showed the picture to my father-in-law and asked if he'd seen it before. "Oh sure" he said. "It's just a plow is all it is. We used to use them in the overgrowth and thicket." (He's from southeast Kentucky.)

Anyone know what the link between that single disc plow in the video and the right front steering arm is for? Easily seen at beginning of vid.

Steers the rear wheel on the plow.

I missed noticing that. On the tillers I have seen the larger ones (large single point pull like a large disk) did not use any such steering connected to the tractor but think they had one. The 3 pth models did have some steering connected to the mount. Now those had a pivot point where they could follow behind the plow but like a trailer even though on 3 pth. They also made them that did not have that pivot point and were fixed like a moldboard plow. Trust all that made sense. I guess with the large disk today they is less need for these. But they really can be great where you have land with small brush on them as they will cut it up and not pile it up. The fact they are round blades can help you or hurt you as they do not have points to catch large roots or rocks and damage something but if they can not cut it will normally ride up over it. Yes, you can pop a blade.

Makes me want to go look for the two we had. Not sure now what happened to them.

Attaching some photos of a 2 blade dearborn disc plow made for Ford, model 10-279. Sorry for the delay, had to move items before pulling the plow from the pole barn.
