Since I joined this forum, I hardly ever come here any more simply because I do not like the way it works - technically, I mean. Example: I cannot stand how no matter what I try in user controls, it always takes me to the very last post in a thread! I want to read the posts from the first one chronologically, not the most recent post. I have set the preference to show older posts first, but it doesn't seem to stay put when I log out.

Also, when posting a reply, you have to click on some icon in the post, you cannot simply begin typing in the text box.

The other ten or so forums I am on are much simpler. Check out one of the "other" tractor forums (e.g., MTF) to see how easy it is to read and reply to threads. Sorry for the rant, but this morning I was wanting to read and reply to a few threads here, and gave up due to this kind of frustration - I have almost NO tolerance for computer/technology, etc., that isn't simple when I know it could be! And, this forum could be... Anyway, this is the reason I don't come here very often.

I'm a computer dummy, so I don't know where the problem is, but I don't think you can blame Tractorbynet for that because it doesn't happen that way for me.

Yep, and I like the fact that it's our choice as to which one we use; just the "Reply" or "Quote", etc.

I have almost NO tolerance for computer/technology

Apparently so.:D:D:D It appears to me that an awful lot of us kind of like it the way it is.

Perhaps there is a setting that can be changed. I'd bet the owners of this site would assist you.

I like the options we have.

Are the other forums as popular as this one? TBN has got to be doing a whole lot right, to acheive the growth it has seen. Keep checking it out, you may start to like it here.

Yep, a lot of folks like the forum - me included for tractor, etc., related stuff. I'm just saying there is room for improvement in the way it works, IMO. That is, comparing the way this forum works to the others I am a member on. Only one of the others is a tractor forum - the rest are mainly computer, truck forums (I am on about 5 of those), etc., some more specialized. I know my way around computers and forums; of course these are really nit picking complaints, but they bother me enough time wise, that I noticed I have been avoiding this forum - not really wanting to.

Don't misunderstand, the FORUM is great! Just these little annoyances (to me) when compared to the way other forums work. If I didn't know better, this would be fine, but I have seen better.

I don't know if the one other tractor forum I am on is as popular as this one, but the computer, truck, etc. forums are WAY more visited than tractor forums. Every forum allows for "reply", "quote", etc. Its the method this one uses that is not as easy as it could be.

Regarding the threads going back to the newest instead of being in chronological order - today, for the first time ever (!), it is working the way I set it in my user control panel. And, so far, staying in the "oldest post - first to show" order. I use at least three computers daily, so I'll have to see if it is staying in the right order as the days progress. Up until today, it has never done that no matter how many times I set it. When I first joined, I contacted Muhammed about that, and also, that photos would not show up in the posts, but instead, you had to always click on an link image of the photo to see it! A few other people mentioned that issue back then - about three years ago. Seems they fixed that one, but it sure aggravated me then. The other tractor forum never had that problem. I like competition:).

Look at what johnray said about a similar issue, i.e., something that doesn't work the way you expect it to...

Maybe someone is working on the photo thing, maybe not, I know it is not fixed yet. Before, it was great and worked like you would think it should. This problem that we have to deal with now is a big PITA. Sure I know you can open it in a new tab. Is there any priority on this photo thing? Some will say , what photo thing. Well, when you hit return, you should go back to the photo you clicked on. Yes, I know some things take time, but this situation keeps going and going. etc. I am not the only one that is not happy with it.
