Yes, The street price will be much lower!

You also have to remember that the L48 has not been manufactured since the beginning of 2007 and there has been 2 price increases since then on everything else.

I think it should be a good seller!

I don't know about others, but I buy close to home as my machines work for a living, and if I cannot get parts or service ASAP, the down time hurts bad. I see no value in searching for the lowest price to save a few dollars on a large ticket iyem only to have it haunt you down the road. Try having your local dealers competitor's sticker on your machine and you want it fixed by your local, closest dealer......where you didn't buy it. Back of the line! Loyalty has value and so do relationships. Our dealer, Chappell, and our family go back 3 generations business wise, and I feel we both benefit from it. I expect them to be in the ballpark, but I am not going to balk at a slight premium if there is one.

First off, when you stop into a local dealer and there is at least a $2k price difference between them and the delivered price from a long distance dealer, and you are well aware that common practice for that local dealer is to put the individual homeowner's warranty repair way at the back of the line behind their much larger contractor accounts, then why spend the extra money?

So far, all minor warranty items have been shipped out immediately from my dealer half-way across the country. And my dealer half-way across the country treated me as if they actually cared about my business from the very first time I contacted them - not something that happened from ANY of the 3 closer in-state dealers I contacted, and one of them was a dealer I had purchased from in the past, who is also a huge farm equipment dealer.

Us owners of the sub $100k machines just don't get treated the same by dealers as we did in years past. I guess it has gotten so expensive to do tractor business that many dealers just don't wan't to spend too much time & money on the individual unit purchasers, and make it clear that they really could care less if we buy from them or not. Just a reality, so the dealers that act like they care about your business are the ones that get it, no matter where they are.

I bought out of state for the 1st time, and won't hesitate to do it again. They get all my parts business, too.

I have to disagree with you. When I went and priced out my L5740 here in Arizona as well as several dealers outside of the state, my local dealer saved me over 4K. If it was a fluke or not, they did their best to get me a darn good deal. Of course I bought it from them.

As far as service is concerened, they are one of the biggest NH Ag dealers around and they treat me no differently as someone who has a multiple large tractor account.

I just had some warrenty work done and when I called them to get a time for me to bring it down, they told me that the equipment is worked on in the order of when they are brought in, irregardless of who it is.

I brought the unit in on a Monday afternoon and all the work was completed by the next afternoon. And yes, the shop floor, which has 10 bays was full of equipment.

If you find a great dealer to work with and are more than willing to bend over backwards to help you out, stay with them. I have.

I have bought a lot of equipment from them, strictly because of their customer and shop service.

I have to disagree with you.

Why in the world would you disagree with me? I explained my experiences between buying 2 machines over the course of a 4 year period, both locally and out of state. What's there to disagree with?!

I was simply trying to explain to another poster who obviously has had the same experiences with a local dealer as you, why some folks choose to not buy from a nearby dealer. Disagreeing with someone's first hand experience is a little ridiculous, don't you think? Just because it isn't something you've ever experienced doesn't mean it doesn't ever happen to other folks. Consider yourself educated on an alternate real-world scenario that you would have otherwise never even thought about.

I just had some warrenty work done and when I called them to get a time for me to bring it down, they told me that the equipment is worked on in the order of when they are brought in, irregardless of who it is.

You are fortunate to have that situation with your local dealer, but it is a FACT that not all dealers have that same policy, and do treat their customers differently, depending on how much equipment one purchases from them. Some dealers leave the individual unit purchasers hanging over the course of a number of years, and you arguing against that situation doesn't change the fact that all those owners complain about the after-sale treatment when you ask questions while doing research on a dealer's service. I place a lot of stock in a dealer's customers telling me they won't buy from that dealer again because of their service, or lack there of.

Bandit, I disagree with you on this issue, and looking from your posted online roundup of equipment, you and I are in 2 different worlds equipment wise, and that may reflect on what you think local service is. When that Kubota repair truck is heading home....past my house.... for the night, you don't think I am on the list of 1st things too do? Good luck with your long distance relationships, hopefully you won't regret your decisions over a few bucks. Sales and service is key to me. I wonce read about a sticker that said "If this machice cannot work, than neither can you." I need a few of those, and maybe you too. No disrespect though, we may do different things and that is important too.

I'm a bit curious about the L45 as well. Having owned a TL48 in the past I'm am quite aware of its deficiencies, the HST gear ranges being number one on the list and one of the reasons I really liked the L39 with GST. I will be curious to try the HST Plus on the L45. After I sold the TL48 I picked up a L3830 HST. That HST was superb with very nice High, Medium and Low ranges. I'm also with Muleskinner on the L3830 or L39 3 cylinder. It was and is a very smooth and powerful engine, basically a L48 engine with one less cylinder. Since I never got to do any dirt work with the L39, I cannot comment on its abilities, size wise it would have been ideal for my needs. I suppose the good thing is that the L39 leftovers will be around for some time should I get interested in a TLB and the L45 TLB not much of an improvement over the L48's HST. The M59 is more than I need and as has been mentioned, getting into a price range that makes one think twice about going into the next class of tractors, the industrial TLB's. I picked up my TL48 in 2001 for about $29K

Don't expect just a little bit less from a L45 than a L48, take a look side by side. They are, in my opinion, 2 different class machines. It should be more the size of a L48 and not have smaller tires like the L39.

Isn't the L45 basically an updated L39 on steroids? Bigger engine, higher FEL capacity, and HST Plus, but everything else the same, including backhoe? And isn't the L39 going away, so now it will be the B26, L45, and M59 as the only commercial TLB machines?

Sounds like the L39 is a good size machine and a very big seller, but just needed a little more power.
