Are all tractors titled as the year sold?

A friend was interested in buying a new tractor, but thought about waiting a week or so till the first of the year so it will be titled a 09, ?? for what ever reason, and any ideas if the intrest rates will be any better with Kubota after the first of the year??, thanks,

My tractor doesn't have a title. All I got from the dealer was a bill of sale. Maybe depends on your state.

Buying a new tractor after the first of the year won't make an 08 model an 09, unless its already an 09 model year tractor.

Same here, no title just bill of sale on my Branson.
Usually they go by serial numbers for year. You could buy a new tractor but it could be a couple years old by the serial number.
When I owned two Ford N's , 1939-1953 ,you could look up the year by the serial number.

I've never heard of tractors being titled unless you register them for on road use. Model year on a tractor mean nothing.

I wouldn't go that far. Model and year do mean something. Even the same model may have improvements in later years than earlier years. Early design flaws are corrected in later years. Newer year of the same model tractor will almost always bring more in resale than older year, if the tractors are otherwise the same. (Some exceptions).

However, I will admit that specific models do not seem to run many years on tractors anymore. Many companies now change the model number and the overall improvements are minimal. A companies "new model" may justifiy a higher price and should sell better. Doesn't take much to add a few electronics, new stickers, tweak the hp or hydraulics etc, and make a "new model". My 2008 Case-IH Maxuum 125 was previously called the MXU 125 and built for 3-4 years. Very little difference between the tractors.

More than won't work, might not make sense. If he is going to use the new tractor for a buisness of some sort he can claim an additional 50% deduction on it this year only. So buying before the 1st could actually save him money on his taxes.

I am in Mass. and have the title to my 2000 NH 1920 right on my desk. It is listed as a 2000, NEWHO (make), TRACTR (model name), OTHER (body style), NEW ,and 06 cyl,02 pass, 2 drs. The actual mileage is listed as 9,999,999. This is a Certificate of Title, The Commonbwealth of Massachusetts, and stamped by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. This came from NH Credit when I paid the note off. Bill C

No titles on any tractors (several) I have bought in my state. Your state may issue some sort of ownership document on their own. The information listed on your "title" doesn't make sense for a tractor. Does your "title" list the model of tractor, serial number etc. Your "title" as you listed, could work for any 2000 model newholland.
