Problems with my B7800

Take better care of it. Keep it under cover. If you let the sun and elements destroy it on you then shame on you.

My B7800 starts without a block heater down in the single digits. The tractor has been flawless so far! As mentioned in earlier posts, you must keep equipment in doors! I had a small skidsteer that was stored outside and it was always an ordeal to get it running. Water just seems to find its way in places that it should not be (in my case usually the fuel tank and electrical connections).

is your engine "at speed" when you engage the PTO?

1. Breaking too many shear pins on front end blower - I had a problem with rear blower breaking pins so I just started taking it easier on the icey snowbanks
2. Doesn't always start in cold weather - Mine came with a block heater-no problems even at -30C
3. Thorns puncture tires-I have R4 tires and use my B7800 for forestry work-no problems with tires
4. Fuel gauge, lights don't work-no problems with mine-maybe a fuse problem
5. Tried replacing front lights but "gasket" disintegrated - I have replaced my front bulbs with 50 watt halogens-works great
6. Lots of plastic- not mine-even the hood is metal

Could I ask you where you got the 50 watt halogen bulbs?

I bought my Blazer brand 50 watt halogens for $9.99 each at a chain here in Canada known as Canadian Tire.

Here's a US source I found in a google search but I bet you can buy them at any autoparts store or maybe even a Walmart

Back Up Alarms & Back Up Sensors - 50 Watt Halogen 1156 Style Super Bright Back-Up Bulb

Bring one of your existing bulbs to the store with you to insure you get the right type replacement unit

Whoops! When I asked I didn't realize you were so far from home. Thanks for the link. You got me going the right direction. The headlights on my B7800 are pretty feeble. That's the only thing bad I can say bad about it.

Call me confused but shouldn't this thread be posted in owning/operating?

Northland.

Thanks for info about the halogen bulbs. Isn't that a big jump to 50 w and is the heat from the halogen bulbs not too much for your lens ? I don't use my B3030 that much at night other than snow ( and we don't get that much) but the halogens might be nice. Thanks

Your right, it is a big jump from the 3.5 watt (or whatever they are) bulbs. However, I have had the bulbs in for over two years and never had a problem with heat melting my plastic lens. For $20 it was a great upgrade:)

I added a rear 50 watt tractor light a few months after I installed the front 50 watt bulbs and after having 150 watts burning bright for many hours I drained my battery :(

I don't have the upgraded alternator, only the dyno, so I have had to be more careful about my lighting
