Just spent a lovely afternoon on the tractor- moving snow. (o.K.- playing as well)

For the first time I had trouble starting the tractor:eek: I've started it in colder conditions with and without the block heater. Good news today- After an hour with the block heater plugged in- started right up:D

We have had a run of zero to below zero for a week now- nothing new or different. A couple of times today- however, the RPM's slowed (when backing up). No load on the Hydraulics (geared transmission anyway) and it picked up RPM's on its own within seconds. Kind of acted like it had run out of fuel.

Nothing visible in the fuel filter and given the temperature- i would expect all water to have frozen if present, or all fuel to have gelled. Is it possible to have gelled fuel floating within solvent fuel? All I can think is that there was a momentary fuel flow problem:confused:

Otherwise, I am still on the fence about getting a front mount blower. I can see and agree with Ductape- that once on I could probably leave it on all winter and store the FEL till spring. Just hope I can get the wife to agree with the whole idea.

However, the most humorous part of the day was suddenly realizing that with the moisture from my breath and 2.5 hours at zero degrees- my beard and mustache had frozen my mouth shut:eek:........for some reason- my wife didn't seem to mind:rolleyes:- until I said that i wanted to buy a cab for the tractor....told her how warm it would be........she finished the conversation " it should be warm enough to sleep in then:D

Oh Well....

I'd have replied "probably would be but you might find it a bit cramped":) My wife would have laughed at that one.

I'd say on the next nasty day, tell your wife you don't feel well, start up the tractor and let her have at it. Then she might see the virture in the cab.;)

...of course- all of the snow might accidentally get packed around her car:D

All kidding aside, I have a wonderful, supportive wife. I just give her more than enough opportunities to have something to say- when I say "don't worry honey"

Although on occasion I have replied "tractors out front" when she mentions how much snow is in the driveway.....
