Normal rattle using clutch w/ PTO engaged

Just for reference I will say it again, Don't use the clutch to disengage the PTO. It might be necessary for a mower or something but definitely not my snowblower.

Thanks for covering these points. Just fo the sake of discussion however I would point out that my owner's manual (pg 7-23 manual part #S196-001 dated July of 2006) says the following:

*to avoid damage of transmission before shifting the P.T.O. gear shift lever, fully disengage the main clutch*

just throwing this out for thought, even though you operators that don't clutch to stop have had good luck with the practice and would most likely know by now if any damage should have occurred. Kioti may have cut that explanation short not wanting to distinguish between disengage PTO and engaging.

I am sure they only mean when engaging the PTO and not dis-engaging. There is nothing smooth about that overrunning clutch noise and if it is used on a regular basis, I guarantee that it will need to be replaced sooner than later.

**** this forum is useful - this is good to know it's not just my machine.

I do get the same noise and will try to disengage without the clutch. I will also check with another CK-20 owner (Reg) to see if he can shed some light on the matter as he is better versed on what's going on inside these things.

I have never given any thought to knocking my car into neutral without using the clutch, so I suppose this is similar.

should the clutch on the CK20HST be engaged for both going in and out of: 1) low/hi gears

2) engage/disengage rear pto and 3) engage/disengage mid pto....
