How much is Quote"Spendy". How many flats can you have fixed for the price of foaming a tire. Someone who has had this done, please jump in here. Also, what happens when you need to replace the tire, what do you need to do to get the old one off?

When I talked with my JD dealer, I got a quote for all 4 tires. Seem to recall it was around $1,200 for all 4 (that's AK prices). The rears were the most @ ~$900.

Course the rubber tire wears out and per discussion; I was told you have to CUT the tire off the rim! I'd have to guess that wouldn't be a very cheap exercise...

But... most guys only put a couple hundred hours on their tractor every year. So, you'd likely be able to run for 10 years before needing new rubber and foam.

My Dealer told me he retreads foam filled tires for 1/2 the cost of new...

They do all the work on site and are located in Stockton CA

i think there are several threads on this or similar topic.

i can tell you i would prefer having removable weights (suit cases) on the front of the bx. i tend to get quite a few flats on the front tires and having them filled would just complicate the repair process.

AND

Front tubes are not designed for filling.(car type valves)
The calcium fill rots the valve stem, leaks and totally rots your rims!

Very costly to replace rims! (I was quoted $400. for my Mitsubishi)

Usually one shop in an area does fill tires not all of them. It cost about $1200 to do all 4 on my B26 I think it runs about $1.75 per pound. And with how small your BX24 tires are I would not worry about the cost or replacing them as it will save you the headache of the flat tire when you least can afford the down time

I second what ultrarunner said. The company that filled my tires indicated he could retread the filled tires 2 - 3 times before needing new tires. When I wear out 3 sets of foam filled tires, I might just buy new rims for the new tires.

Maybe, at that time, I will be ready for a new tractor.

Man that must be some good foam. Someone needs to invent a new word for that, because it is way above "SPENDY" and just aboutand possibly more thanwhat 4 tires would cost you for one of these subcompact/small compact tractors especially if you buy from a discount tire supplier. I priced some rears for BIL's 650 JD for less than $200 each. I guess I will just stick with my water filled tires and hope I dont have any flats. I can always use my shop vac and suck the water out if I need to.
