Hi Tombstone! I owned and ran a 52 inch tiller on my Ford 1920 tractor for over 15 years and you should have no problem running a 5' tiller as long as you gear down and keep the RPMs up to 540 rpm and in new ground, make several passes. If the ground is very hard, make the first pass only 4 or 5 inches deep then the next pass, drop it down to the full depth the tiller can do. Remember to till in several directions esp in new soil. Many times, I plowed the soil first if you have very thick sod in new ground. This seems to help eliminate the issue of clumps of sod and grass in the garden! If you want a great soil bed, plow or till in the fall then till again in the spring! Ken
