New cable should be in today. Has anyone changed out their cable? If so, any tips would be welcome. Thanks.

I can't recall any other posts on the subject. I don't think they break too often. How badly did PT nick you for the new cable?

$110+ what ever overnight shipping comes to. Gotta getter done though. It's hard to plow snow when you only have reverse and I'm getting to old to shovel 8 driveways.

I hear that. I am too old to shovel even one. That's why I live where I do. It hardly ever snows here, and if it does, we don't go anywhere. ;)

If you search for Hydro-back, I posted some pictures and described the insides of the Hydra-back. I still have more reverse than fwd. I will need a new cable pretty soon. That price is about what they told me.

final update. The tram cable replacement was pretty easy. With some instruction from Terry, I got it changed in about an hour or so. Half that time spent with my hands in my pockets warming them up. Until I installed the new cable, I couldn't believe how stiff the old one had become during 5 years of use. The PT is so responsive with the new cable, It just about leaped off the trailer the first time I stepped on the peddle. I just may change the cable every couple years as a maintenance item.

Sorry, no pics. My hands were so cold I could barley operate a wrench, let alone a camera. In all honesty, the job is pretty straight forward and pictures won't help that much. If you do change one out, spend a couple of minutes on the horn with Terry. He will give you the fine details. One suggestion he did make, is that, after you change the cable, jack all four wheels off the ground before starting the tractor in case the hydro-back is not adjusted to neutral.

Alright. I know how that is, not having a heated area to work on equipment.
In fact, there has been occassion where my camera froze up.
