My JD 4045 engine in my mulching machine blew the oil line that feeds the turbo. JD sent mechanics on ATVs out to the mountian top and fixed the issue. They even replaced the turbo since it ran without oil for a while (very short while since the cab filled up with somke instantly). I would think that if you did not run it for a long time you did any internal damage. I am assuming that as soon as you saw the oil you shut her down.

Yes i shut it down immediately but it had 6.4 hours on it when delivered so not sure if it was doing this during those hours.Im thinking maybe the tubo 0-ring because all the oil lines look fine no leaks on them.

Am I alone in my thoughts that "Dealer Prep & Inspection" prior to delivery is something dealers no longer do. Several individuals have reported major problems lately with items that should have been identified and corrected prior to delivery. Reminds me somewhat of in the eary seventies when most automobile dealers left post sales prep and inspection to the poor guy in the wash pit. Anyone who purchased an automobile or truck in that time frame knows about the problems the vehicle was delivered with.

just got off the phone with owner and his brother who runs the service dept. They where very apologetic and said whatever they have to do to make it right they will .The brother said it sounded like a turbo o-ring problem and that they would replace the turbo with a new one in case any damage was done to the existing one.Not sure if this is there normal service or its because i called JD corporate who in turn called them either way they are going to run a full diagnostic on entire tractor including electrical and give me a copy of it and of everything they do.I told them if its just the turbo im fine with the new replacement but if its anything to do with the engine i will not accept the same tractor only a new replacement.

gator in response to your question the prep list was in the manual they gave me and it was blank. They didnt even fill it out if you can believe it!Not only that the guy loading on the tractor for delivery noticed the oil pressure light and asked the guy who does the setuo for there tractors whats up with the light and he told him that its ok it will go off at higher rpm!The service manager was pissed when he heard that and said the light should NEVER be on unless theres a problem. He told the guy loading tractor that in the future to always go to the service manager and he makes final decisions on any and all questions about service lights etc.Not sure if this is just a sign of the times of todays marketplace or what but it sucks.I own a construction business and i certainly make sure all my emploees are trained on all our equipment and to make sure everything is perfect BEFORE the customer gets the final product.

Just hang in there, if you have a good dealer then he will give you
good service. I have a dealer 20 miles from me and he has lost several customers, because he has done bad service.

With the way the economy is i don't think no dealer wants to do
any bad service and lose any customers.

Good luck.

Don't worry. They, or another JD dealer will take care of you. The service manager of any dealer will handle it for you. They don't care where you got it.

I had a bent 3pt lever on mine. I didn't notice it for a while because I had it delivered with the backhoe mounted and didn't unmount it for 6 months. I was amazed the dolt that mounted the hoe didn't notice the bent lever because it was really hard to move. Total bozo.
So much for that department checking out the tractor before they delivered it!
I called in the morning and they came and replaced it that afternoon.

Your problem sounds like what they call infant mortality. It happens. They'll come out and replace it. They'll clean it up and it will be as good if not better than new.

I have had my 3720 for a few years and it is a great tractor.

....but if its anything to do with the engine i will not accept the same tractor only a new replacement.

IMO, your asking a little much on that part...
Think about it this way...if it would have happened while unloading the tractor during the shipping from the factory to the dealer, the dealer would have fixed it up and put it on the sales floor... you wouldnt even know anything about it and would be none the wiser...

I come from a large automotive dealership and it happens all the time. Wont even show up in a warranty search because its technically not a warranty issue but a "Pre Delivery Service" Issue....and they dont HAVE to disclose it either...I've seen a few repainted hoods & roof's because the transport company was careless when chaining/unchaining the vehicles from the transporter....

Sounds like your dealer has you covered and I'm sure it will be made right. Look at it this way, if you can go thru your entire warranty with no further issues because of it, chances are you wont encounter any after then either.
