just got a pic from the guy check out this beast. looks like the pic is from the summer.

MAN, that thing is sharp. I would love to have one like that but it would have to be a auto.

25,000 lbs behind a gas powered pickup for 30 miles????

Sorry man, but I gotta call you on that one. That's just too hard to believe.

My IH4800 struggles pulling 25,000lbs and that's a 60,000 GCWR dumptruck.

Well I don't have a pic of it in tow but the first boat is the one I tow with my 2006 F-350 PSD 30 miles each spring a fall to a storage facility. The boat next to it on the right is just slightly smaller than my boat, the one in the avatar. This boat is a 36' Carver with a 13' beam. Here is a link to the Carver 36 Mariner Home page. As you can see the boat empty with standard options is 19,500# I can tell you it has every option and then some like hard wood flooring we installed. The trailer for that boat weighs about 6,000# alone.

The next picture is of my uncles boat. He stores it at the same place in the fall and tows it to the lake in the spring with his 2005 F-350 V-10. Its a Sea Ray Sundancer that is about 40' long with the extended swim platform and has a 12' beam. Here are the specs for this boat. Its listed at 15,400# dry but he has re powered it with twin 8.1's and has every option on the market for it. The trailer for it is also right at 6,000# alone.

We apply for over width permits from the state and have them in our hands via fax in 20 minutes. We use a escort vehicle front and back. The biggest concern is our route. The Carver is nearly 16' tall on the trailer and the Sea Ray is 14'6". That is will all the antennas down.

When we launch these boats we use 2 trucks, both in 4 Low. Usually its both of my SuperDutys or sometimes we use my buddies Dodge 3500 Cummins as the second truck. One backing it in and the other hooked to the front tow hook via a tow strap for extra braking capacity. Both of these large boats have electric brakes on the trailer which is necessary. Other than that its just taking your time and having plenty of help to get these pigs on the trailer.

You question the V-10 but in reality it will tow more on paper than the diesel due to it being about 400# lighter or something like that. It will not win any races and even in 4 Low it takes about 4,500 RPM to get it lugged up the ramp.

The other guy who does this work at the lake has a 2001 F-450 dump with the V-10 also and has been doing it longer than me with no issues.

So does anyone think i will be disapointed from going from diesel to gas??

Sorry to hijack the thread but me and him go round and round. I am not sure how to answer your question. Ask the dealer if you can take it home for a day long test drive. My dealer will let me take whatever I want. If he will not he must be the only dealer in the country selling cars and trucks right now.

I have 2 PSD trucks and my next one may very well be the V-10. I know it will be as step backwards in power and torque but it will also put a lot of cash back in my pocket. Just do what you think is right. The V-10 would not be the deal breaker for me, it would be the lack of a auto tranny but you obviously are fine with that.

That is a nice truck, but the price just don't seem right. i have looked for 1ton dump trucks before and they were rough looking, and
they were asking pretty close to that price.

If that had a diesel and auto that would be perfect.

come on now who doesnt like to shift gears. Ill agree it might be a little less in torque but Ill be dam if i buy a new 6.4 with the EPA bull crap on them if it wasnt for that it would be a diesel and plus this one is speced out very nice for me I think i will head to the dealer tomorrow and see if i can test it for the rest of the weekend or what ever.

You should ask the dealer if you can load it, then drive it and see what you think about it.

I believe dealers will do anything right now to sell.

One other thing, i would ask if there is a LIEN on it.

*There was someone in my area bought a used car from a dealer, the person that traded the car in for a new one had a lien on it, the dealer DIDN"T PAY OFF THE LIEN TO THE BANK, now the person that
bought the used car is owes the dealer and the lien to the bank.*
