Does a WD hitch work with a pintle coupler?

No, I believe most say to only use with a ball. You should never need one pulling a 14K trailer with a Dually Dodge Diesel as long as the load is properly place.

OK, thanks.

Here's a question - right now one of the ramp pockets is slightly bent at the end so its hard to get the ramp in and out - I'll just need to bang it back into shape.

However, I don't see how the ramps lock into the pockets. Got any suggestions on how I could make something to keep them from sliding out? I was thinking maybe drill a hole through the side of the pocket, and then the ramp, and then I could slide in a pin or something...

That is how some work. I have also seen where some trailer manufactures use a piece of Re-barb or 3/8" round stock cut to about 18". They put a 90deg bend in one end about 3" and then drill a 1/8" hole and use a pin to secure. It would go through the end of your ramp that is on the ground in the pic. Much like the pin that holds a trailer hitch draw bar in.

The way I said seem to be the way your trailer was designed. You are just going to have to make some new pins.

It looks in your photo that shows a ramp pocket like there's already a hole in the side of the pocket suitable for inserting a pin of some sort. Is there a stop at the "inside" end of the pocket, or do you need the pin to keep the ramps from sliding both directions?

I would expect a round bar with a 90-degree bend on one end and a hole for a lynch pin on the other end to go through those holes.

My trailer has 6k axles and eight lugs. JC

I would check that again. I have been around trailers for 25 years and been in the business for about 8 and have never seen a 6K with 8 lug. 8 lug are usually 7k axles. This is a good thing, you got more than you paid for. Now that is not saying I have seen it all so there very well may be some axles like that. Some companies like Tennessee Trailers, make the axles for there trailers in house using others components so they can mix and match.

Are you going by the trailers GVWR or 12k or have you actually found a data plate on the axles themselves? The reason I ask is usually the axles and in turn the tires are the weak link on a trailer. The company that made yours may try to prevent this by using the next higher rating axle and tire package and then rate the trailer minus that gain.

Dexter axle website lists their 5500 through 7K axles (model D60 & D70) can come with 8 bolt or 5 bolt UTG hubs.

Glad to hear it has a notch. Very hard to see in the pic but you can see how a trailer that does not can be very dangerous. I personally like to back tractors onto trailers for the reason it can not go over backwards on me.

You may be able to get some data off the axles but I am very sure they are 7K axles. The tell tell sign is 8 lugs. 3500's are 5 lug and 5,200's and 6,000's are 6 lugs.

If they will not issue a new title just register it as a home built. In Indiana if you do not have a title all you need is a notarized letter from the sell, a bill of sale, and a police inspection to get it registered and a new title issued.

I thought I saw something strange since I just recently put a 3500lb 6lug axle on my parents 6X10 trailer. Here is where I got the axle http://www.trailerpart.com/35ktraileraxle.htm

nice trailer. I will 2nd the caution about the deck getting slick. 1 oil leak, a few rain drops and a 10,000 pound fork lift sliding out of control sideways, on a direct path to stick the forks in a brand new F250 is a lesson I only needed to learn once. even if you just paint it and pour sand on it while the paint is wet, traction is you friend!!!!

You guys are both right. Like I said they may be out there but they are by no means the standard. I personally had never seen either a 3.5K in 6 lug or a 5K in a 8 lug. I check with my dealers sheet and 6 lug 3.5K is not a option. 8 lug 5.2K or 6.0K is not available either. 8 lug are only available for 7.0K and up. This is from 7 or 8 that list the data and they are major manufactures.

Here is what I said "Now that is not saying I have seen it all so there very well may be some axles like that." I see they are now available in these configurations like you said. I am guessing its geared for replacement axles so that one can use a existing set of wheels. I guarantee if you walk 10 dealers lots in my area it is just as I say. Now it may be different in other parts. It seems nothing is standard on these trailer, including prices. On another thread I learned a trailer that I can sell for $1700 cost $3000 4 states a way in the North East.

Sorry for the confusion.
