Hydraulic Or Mechanical Drive - Your Thoughts?

I vote for Mechanical. As you stated "Simple & Effective". What is wrong with that?

So with that in mind and you leading the way, onlookers such as myself might want to build one too. We all don't have good hydraulics sources available ya know.

The more I think about it and talk about it to others...I think this one will be mechanical drive...Once I'm done I'll post pics...like I said, I'm still in materials gathering mode. I expect I'll be using it this summer sometime...

I've used both on implements I've made and each has its advantages

hydraulic has the simplicity of lay out , you can run hoses anywhere and put the motors where the work is and maintaining is simpler.

my stonepicker has 2 motors in series to perform separate functions and in series with the rockshaft with no problems.

the downside of hydraulic is cleaning the connectors when hooking them up.

i put the motors on removable mounts to use on different implements.
