well the cummins in the truck i gots junk has no power what so ever even has a chip in it and it just fells slugish. Ive drove the 6.0liter many times and it might not have the torque of a diesel but its one **** of a motor.

What is impressive about the 6.0 gas GM motor? Its a ok motor, but far from impressive.

I'd say 320HP from a 6L engine is pretty impressive.

Actually, it looks like the 403HP 6.2L will be offered in the '09. That looks really impressive. More HP than a V-10 Ford with less displacement.

I guess I have been spoiled by my HEMI but that is not impressive at all. My 2003 Ram V8 5.7l makes 345hp & 375 lb.ft. that is 1 HP per CU IN. The new HEMI 5.7l engine makes 390hp and 410 lb.ft., that is impressive! The HEMI 6.1l engine makes 425hp and 420 lb.ft. but is only available in the Charger, for now.

Say what you want about the HEMI but others still cannot make an engine that produces that kind of horsepower per cubic inch (normally aspirated). There is no denying that it is an incredible engine.

320 HP and 375 # ft of torque is not impressive anymore. Dodge is making 383 HP and 404# ft of torque out of the 5.7 Hemi. Toyota is making 381 HP and 404 # ft of torque out of its 5.7 I-Force. The Nissan is making 317 HP and 385 # ft of torque out of its Endurance 5.6. The 5.4 Ford Triton is making 320HP and 390 #ft of torque.

So as you can see every other manufacture is making equal to or better than numbers with less displacement.

I never said the 6.0 was not a good engine. It seems to be a very reliable and strong power plant, just lacks on the torque for its displacement. Its just not impressive anymore. The 6.2 is a different beast and is very impressive. Again this is just a numbers game. If one company comes up with a new engine they all do a year later. You laugh at Ford for coming up with gimmicks like steps and brake controllers but that sells trucks and the others follow a few years later.

This will never change. They all have to look at what the others are doing and follow to survive.

the 6.0liter is a little out dated still a great motor though. Now like you said the 6.2 is a new beast and cant wait to see it in the heavy dutys.

You said it there. The 6.2 is a beast. Actually all the manufactures have new engines on the way out like the Ford 777 and the new Dodge Hemi 6.1. Take a look at all them and make your own conclusions. I still can not believe you are not happy with the Cummins. Even Ford and GM guys love and respect the Cummins.

You and Builder seem to see eye to eye on things but I just caution you to read through the BS and look up the facts for yourself. You seem like a smart kid so get on the net and research. Don't listen to sites like these because everyone has a opinion, including me, and they are just that, a opinion.

If GM's current '09 6.2L is making 403/417 isn't that better ALL other V-8 engines you listed above?

Last time I checked, 403HP is greater than 383, 381, 320 and 317 HP.

Last time I checked, 417TQ is greater than 404, 390 & 385 TQ, too.

Why are we comparing last year's GM motor to this years competition? Is that the only way you have to make GM look bad?
The 6L is an optional engine one step down from the 6.2L.

Why difference does HP/cubic inch make? If you knew anything about trucks, you'd know that more rotating mass is desireable in a truck.

To me, looks like Ford is the big loser. They're the only one with bigger displacement and a V-10 that can't even make 400HP.
