IH 140 price info needed

So there must be three versions--the true Hi-Crop with 36 inch rear wheels and taller front axle, the standard hi-crop with 36 inch rear wheels and standard front end and the regular hi-crop with standard front end and 24 inch rear wheels?

Nope...only the 36 HC and the regular 24in rear wheels. Nothing in between. BobG in VA

A good way to tell the difference between a standard 140 and and HC and the Industrial version was and S bar on the side of the tractor on the cultivision side. It was a large round slightly s shaped bar on the side of the tractor from the ball housing to the front axle mount. And the fron axle is also square and on its edge like a diamond shape. I think that both HC and Industrial models. Dad was looking at an IH 140 Industrial but it was missing some of the parts ex state maintenance machine. Dad has one of his 140's with a 3 point hitch restored for 5000. Hes getting out of tractors for a while till his health picks up.

Don't quote me on this, but this is what I'ma thinkin. Real nice standard ball park- $5000. High Crop ball park- $6500-$7000.

Around here they the standards bring in 3700 to 5500 and and HC thats nice about 650 to 7500 and and industrial I think runs around6500 to 7500 as well depending on the what hitch they came out with.

I decided to look for an IH 140 for cultivating and sidedress. I haven't found one yet but need a starting point as to what one would sell for. What would I expect to pay for one in super condition with maybe original paint and low hours with no dents?
How about the same thing in average condition?
There seem to be plenty of these things around. Any info you have would be helpful.

The 140 is roughly the same size as my 1951 Farmall Super A.

I found this one on craigslist last Nov. Really like the 3pt hitch on this one and the excellent rubber all around.

Got it for $1300, including an "industrial" grade mid-mount sicklebar mower and a blade scraper.

It won't shift into 1st gear, but this is an easy fix (shifter fork, spring, etc).

The average trade-in value for a 1958 IH 140 is $1160 and the average used resale price is about $2500. I would expect to make a deal at $2000 or so. If it's in truly exceptional condition, add a few hundred bucks.

Excellent Super A you have there. Sounds like you got a great price. Maybe I should look for a Super A or a 240? I don't know these IH models that well but do like how well they are put together and how well they run.

We had a Super A as well. Also, maybe you should look into the 130, and 100, too. The model A high crop is called an AV.
